Mark Green wins BRCA 1/8th Rd8

Mark Green wins BRCA 1/8th Rd8

Round 8 of the BRCA championship was held at the Mendip circuit for the second time this season. With Bristol airport being a small drive away and due to the completion of the Irish season, a small contingent from Ireland arrived, including the vastly experienced Clive Connelly (Mugen) and Ian Campbell (Shepherd). The entry of 48 drivers was one of the highest all season and with the addition of some old faces, the future is starting to look brighter for this section. The weather forecast for the weekend was bright which would allow a lot of testing to be carried out in order to find the perfect setup. With top 200mm driver, Kyle Branson making an appearance for the first time this season and the presence of the top Irish drivers would make it difficult for the usual top 10 to be sure of a main final qualifying position and so the pressure to perform was considerably increased.

Nordman & Ausfelt takes Norwegian National finals

Nordman & Ausfelt takes Norwegian National finals

Last weekend saw the final round of the Norwegian Nationals for 1/10th 2WD and 4WD buggy held in Oslo “Hvervenbukta”, Norway. In 2WD PerErik Nordman showed he was on the pace as he took TQ honors after putting a fast round together in the first round of qualifying. As the track got slower through the day due to the surface being really soft, PerErik’s time proved unbeatable. The finals was extremely exciting as the track conditions made it really hard for the drivers to put a 7 minute run together without mistakes. After plenty of exciting racing in the finals with leaders changing throughout the 7 minute heats, PerErik took the overall win ahead of Ole Steen Karlsen and Kjell-Gunnar Guttormsen.

Stefan Mesker wins back to back Benelux titles

Stefan Mesker from the Netherlands has won the Benelux Championship for the second year running. In the final round, held on the grass at Vlijmen, Mesker won leg 1 and finished second to team mate Bruno Heremans in leg 2 to lock up the series win. Heremans went on to win leg 3 to take the race. Going into this final round the Championship was up for grabs between Stefan and his X-6 Squared and Wouter Wynans’ B4.  Stefan had three wins in the first four races, while Wouter had won race 5 & 6 plus a string of second place finishes. Heremans TQ’d easily at Vlijmen, with Wynans 2nd and Mesker 4th, but Stefan asserted himself in leg 1. In leg 2, pole-sitter Heremans led most of the race, and the battle for second between Wouter and Stefan was for the Championship. There were several position changes as they battled back and forth, but in the end Mesker took second and with it a bucket of ice water on his head.
