Scotty Gray takes ROAR Region 4 win

Scotty Gray takes ROAR Region 4 win

Last weekend the ROAR Region 4 Super Regional On-Road Championship took place at the Homestead RC Speedway in Homestead, Florida. Friday saw a lot of racers already at the track looking to find the best setup for qualifying. In Saturday’s qualifying Shepherd driver Scotty Gray put in an impressive performance in the last round of qualifying to secure the TQ position for the A-main, 4 seconds clear of 2nd placed driver Danny Horta, while Paolo Morganti took 3rd. From the start of the 45min final it was obvious that it was going to be between Scotty and Paolo, the pair dicing back and forth. At around the half way point Paolo had to retire with mechanical problems, so Scotty could relax and cruise home to the victory, 9 laps over the 2nd placed Sean Lue with Rafael Angulo taking the 3rd spot.

Báez & Mendez win Puerto Rico Nats Rd1

The first race of the Puerto Rico Championship was held in Barceloneta this past weekend under perfect weather conditions. The sedan class saw the win go to Mugen Driver Andy Báez who also took the TQ, followed by Serpent driver Juan Rodríguez and Kyosho Team Driver Pedro Alvarado. The race was 40 minutes long and was exciting from the very beginning, with Andy and Juan constantly changing positions. Unfortunately later in to the race Andy lost his second gear, however quick work from his pit crew got the problem fixed and they managed to keep him in the lead. Later on in the race Juan hit problems giving Andy a comfortable lead and allowed him to take the win.

Tommy Bergfeldt takes MSEC Rd3

We received a report from the third round of the MSEC 08-09, held in Eskilstuna on the same layout as the Friendship race last December. DHI Cup winner Tommy Bergfeldt took TQ in Modified and won all of the triple A-mains, finishing ahead of Edwin Sunesson, who was the only driver who could reach Tommy in the finals. In Stock it was young Markus Elmerfors that took the TQ and went on to win all A-mains, impressive as usual to see Markus drive even under the hardest of pressure. The 1:12th scale saw an even race between Mackan Göransson, Magnus Hedlund and Maxx Rosén and a few more with Mackan G took a surprising win. Per-Erik Nordman was the one to beat in offroad, with very steady driving he won the first 2 finals.

RC Pro & RCSignup NCCS

RC Pro and RCSignup have just introduced a nice initiative called the National Championship Club Series (NCCS). There have been a large number of tracks closing because of less club racing, so this series has been designed to bring more interest to local club racing but will also interest those racers who only race locally and who can’t or don’t travel. Any track in the U.S.A. can signup as long as they run the Slash spec class and have electronic scoring. Tracks can schedule 6 club events throughout the year that will score National Points at no cost to the tracks. Any racer can enter and score points at any track in the series and each racers best 4 results will count. The NCCS website is designed so tracks can enter their race results and the site will automatically calculate the points and display the standings for each track plus the national standings. There will be year end awards for the top 20 Nationally.
