Bart Wubben wins Dutch EP TC Nats Rd3

The 3rd round of the Dutch Electric Touring car National Championship was held this weekend at the small and technical Gouda track in the centre of the country. The weather behaved and the racers had dry, but windy, conditions to contend with. The qualifications saw Xray racer Hugo vd Berg on the top of the time sheets, just ahead of Serpent racers Rob Janssen and round 2 winner Bart Wubben. In his recovery driver Hugo managed to get back to 2nd, however making contact with Arjen and Rob on the way which dropped Arjen to 8th and Rob back behind a fast Stefan Jansen. Bart took the win from Hugo, with Stefan in 3rd followed closely by Rob. In the 2nd leg Rob made a good start and could get passed Hugo who was then hit by another car, taking him out of the race. Bart was close behind Rob and with some team play at work, he let his quicker team mate through and thats how they finished with Bart Wubben taking the overall win from Rob Janssen in 2nd and Kyosho racer Stefan Jansen 3rd. In the stock class it was Micheal Lepelaar that took the win ahead of Vasco Christiaanse in 2nd and ETS round 3 winner George Spitteler in 3rd.

Mark Green wins UK 1/8th Nats Rd4

Round 4 of the Britsh 1/8th scale National Championship was held at the Mendip Circuit in Wetern Super Mare last weekend with very good weather all weekend for the first time this season. In qualification it was Mark Green who was TQ with a blistering 20 Laps in 309 using the DS2 Picco engine and new Efra 2007 tuned pipe and manifold. Second and 3rd were team mates Tim Wood and Pete Hastings with a 20 lap and a very quick 19 laps respectively. Andy North was the quickest non Serpent with 19 Laps in 304 closely followed by Gareth Bell and Neil Diver, while round 3 winner and Championship leader Richard Hicklin was 7th. The final started with the racers maintaining their grid order until a crash towards the rear of the pack and a bad couple of corners from Andy North dropped him down the field. Mark Green meanwhile extended his lead quite comfortably up front, while the first retirement was team mate Richard Hicklin followed by Jason Frost and Tim Wood, who had gearbox problems. Whilst in a podium position, Neil Diver ran out of fuel and dropped down the order from which he recovered to finish a creditable 5th. Gareth Bell’s consistency ensured 4th position, while Chris Heath again drove a faultless race to finish 3rd, after doing one less fuel stop due to his very efficient Sirio powered Motonica. Peter Hastings continued his strong qualifying pace to take a fine 2nd place behind team leader and race winner Mark Green.

S. Bouche wins French 1/8 Nats Rd4

Stéphane Bouche wins French 1/8 Nats Rd4

Round 4 of the French 1/8th scale National Championship was hosted last weekend by the CMB club in Ferrière aux Etangs. Weather was fine for most of the event but the rain eventually came just before the finals, but the track had dried by the time the Elite final took the track. In Saturday’s qualifying for the Elite class it was European B Champion Richard Volta that took the pole position followed by Stéphane Bouche and Romain Picard, while in the National class it was local Serpent racer Gérald Colinet that claimed the top spot from Romain Baehrel and Philippe Cima. The Elite main saw Volta, who could claim the National title, disappear into the lead at the start and by the middle of the race had a 2 lap advantage, but it wasn’t to be as he had a technical problem that dropped him out of contention. This left Bouche in the lead, from where he went on to win by a lap from Laurent Pageneau in 2nd and Picard Romain in 3rd, completing an all Shepherd Velox podium. In the National class final, a wet track meant conditions were tricky for the racers, but pole man Colinet was able to translate his top qualifying form into a race win, taking the flag 4 laps in front of Philippe Cima in 2nd place and Philippe Regolle in 3rd.
