Jonathan Dronfield wins BRCA 19T Rd6

The 6th and penultimate round of the 2007 BRCA 19T Touring car Nationals took place at the weekend under wet conditions at the Stafford track in the mid West of England. In the slippy qualifying it was newly crowned champion Chris Kerwell, driving for Corally, that claimed the TQ spot ahead of Jonathan Dronfield in 2nd for Schumacher with Corally driver Steve Lissamore in 3rd. In the first leg of the A-main it was a tight battle at the front with Dronfield being gifted the lead after a mistake for Christopher Delves allowed him into the lead. Kerswell caught up to the Mi3 driver but couldnt get passed and so Dronfield took the leg 1 win. In the 2nd leg there was more action with Kerswell and Dronfield both falling down the order in seperate incidents and both having to recover. Christopher Delves took the leg win ahead of Xray driver Adam Hughes in 2nd with a recovering Dronfield back up into 3rd, which was enough to secure the overall win from Kerswell in 2nd and Delves in 3rd.

Mike Wiseman takes Rd3 of SA Nats

South African Championships round 3

Serpent have a report online from the 3rd round of the South African 1/8th and 1/10th scale Nationals held at the very large Durban track recently. In qualifying it was Mike Wiseman all the way, taking the TQ with his Serpent 720 and 960 respectively continuing his dominant form from the first 2 rounds of the National series. In the 1/10th scale race it was a great dice between Mike Wiseman and Travis Carlyle, as they fought for the win with Wiseman eventually coming out on top. Finishing 2nd, Carlyle now leads the Championship with one round to go while another local youngster, Shaun White, rounded off the podium in 3rd. The 1/8th scale was fought out at a furious pace with four drivers contesting the lead, with Mike Wiseman, Hein Kotze, Jacques Liebenberg and Wayne Joelson never more than a few seconds apart. At the 20-minute mark, Kotze and Joelson came in to change tyres, which saw them lose time on Wiseman and Liebenberg who opted to run the full distance on one set. Liebenberg eventually dropped back a bit, giving Wiseman the win by over a lap at the end of the 45 minute final from Joelson in 2nd and Liebenberg 3rd.

Xray have a report on their site from the recently held ROAR Region 9 Off Road Championships hosted by Mike’s Hobbies and Gulf Coast Raceway. Qualifying saw the buggy TQ go to Team Losi driver Dave Mangelsdorf while in the truggy class it was again Dave Mangelsdorf that took the TQ. The Expert truggy A-main saw Branham and Mangelsdorf battling together for the first 10 minutes waiting for one or the other to make a mistake and eventually Mangelsdorf did. Branham eventually ran away with the lead to win by a lap with Mangelsdorf finishing 2nd and Jimmy Matsler in 3rd. The Expert buggy A-main saw Jason Branham crash early in the main which dropped him to the back of the pack letting Dave Mangelsdorf and David Joor to run away with the lead. After the 9 min. mark Mangelsdorf and Joor were lapping Branham as he was struggling to get back on pace. Once Branham broke away from the back of the pack and moved up through the field and got his lap back and was once again on pace and was catching the leaders in a hurry. Graham Alsop wins Truggy Pro Rd3

Graham Alsop wins Truggy Pro Rd3

The 3rd round of the UK Truggy Pro series took place last weekend in Ledbury near the England Wales border and with 100 participants present the weather gods were kind to the racers with the event evntually turning out to be warm and dry. Qualifying saw Kyosho Masters winner Elliot Boots take the TQ spot by 3 seconds ahead of round 2 winner and HoBao racer Graham Alsop in 2nd. After a bit of banging and scraping at the start of the main final it was Boots that emerged in 1st only to be passed 4 laps later by Xray driver Hazlewood and then also eventually by Alsop. With Boots clearly in 3rd it was left to Alsop and Hazlewood to battle it out for the win with the lead swapping a number of times and after the last pitstop it looked like Hazlewood had the win secured, but a coming together with a back marker handed Alsop the lead and despite heavy pressure he could also take the win, with Hazlewood in 2nd and Boots in 3rd.

Manuel Huber wins Austrian Champs Rd4

Manuel Huber wins Austrian Champs Rd4

Xray have a report from their team driver Manuel Huber on the recently held 4th round of the Austrian 1/10th 200mm Nationals. Qualifying saw Huber claim the TQ but with Austrian rules all drivers must race a Semi final and in this race Huber was once again quickest, winning the semi and taking the pole position for the main final. At the start of the final Manuel made a good start, but a split second loss of concentration sent him off the track and back to the back of the field, which allowed Serpent racer Daniel Tomaschko into the lead. A mistake just after 5 minutes forced Tomaschko out of the race and allowed a fast recovering Huber into the lead where he was unchallenged for the remainder of the race and could take the win by 2 laps ahead of Xray team mate Manuel Singer in 2nd and Mugen driver Michael Klausner in 3rd.
