Venables wins at EssexCarpetClash Rd1

Round 1 of the popular Essex Carpet Clash events took place last weekend for its third series at a new venue, in Brentwood Essex, south of the UK. The larger hall greeted the racers allowing for social distancing to take place for all attendees running 2WD (being the only class this series). The track had a flowing layout with nice features and jumps allowing for racing and a satisfying lap. Last year’s champion Ellis Stafford, hit the ground running taking all 4 qualifying rounds and giving him pole position for the 3 leg finals. The finals would make for some awesome, exciting and close racing. Pole man Stafford would only be able to take 2nd overall, following little mistakes in the finals meaning he had to fight his way back through the field. 2nd placed qualifier William Venables would walk away with the overall round win having decent and consistent finishing positions. But this wasn’t made easy for him, as he had to hold off a fast chasing Harley Eldridge who finished 3rd overall, in some close extremely close racing.

The 5th and final round of the Czech Open series 2020 took place last weekend at the RC Klub Kolin track. The weather forecast was very promising for the race and we had nice sun all day, but the heavy rains in the days leading up to the event made the track wet even for the race, so there were no problems with dust or low traction. In Nitro Max Gotzl managed to take the TQ with the fastest time in qualifying with his Xray XB8, with Jiri Mara (Sworkz) placed 2nd and Jan Horacek 3rd. In the Ebuggy class Jiri Benes took the TQ in front of Jiri Dvorak and Jan Domansky. Mara took the runner up spot with Jan Hujer finished 3rd overall. In Ebuggy the top 3 after qualifying had the exact same points after the three finals, but Jiri Dvorak with a faster time took the Win in front of Jiri Benes, and Jan finished 3rd.
