Serpent GT Cup Rd1 – Report

The opening round of the 2016 Serpent GT Cup was held at the TRC race track in Hong Kong with over 70 drivers in attendance. New to the 2016 season is the addition of a Modified class where the drivers are free in terms of engine and tyre chose although the chassis has to remain the standard Cobra GT. The new class attracted a total of 12 drivers with 60 entries for the Stock category. The race schedule of the 1-day event saw three 10 minute qualifiers for the Stock class and a single 15 minute qualifier for the Modified class with the fastest lap counting towards the qualifying results. The A-mains would then be run as a single 40 minute main for the Stock class and two electric-style mains for the Modified category.

Christophe Louis joins J-Tech

J-Tech have announced the signing of 2012 EFRA Euros B runner-up, Christophe Louis to their team for 2016. The French Elite class champion will use the Italian-made rubber in his 1/8th scale campaign this season.

Xray X-Race UK – Announcement

The legendary Cotswolds outdoor on-road track will play host for the first Xray X-Race UK on the weekend of the 12th of June. It is understood that the race is open for everyone and more information about the event will become available soon.

Hot Race Tyres sign Joao Figueiredo

Italian company Hot Race Tyres has announced the signing of young Portuguese driver Joao Figueiredo to their off-road team for the 2016 season. The Kyosho driver plans to participate at events such as the national championship, the Montpellier GP, the Neo Race as well as the European and World championships. Joao has the following to say:

It’s with great honor that I announce that I’ll be racing with HotRace Tyres for this 2016 season. I have been trying/testing this tyres since the IBR Indoor Worlds 2015. JP Richards teams up with Maclan Racing

Maclan Racing have announced the signing of JP Richards for the 2016 season. The 2014 Reedy Race 2WD Open Class winner and former ROAR National Champion has spent the last several months working with Maclan Racing on development of their new 1/10 sensored racing motors and speed controls. In the most recent CRCRC Midwest Electric Championship, JP has achieved podium finishes in both 2WD and 4WD classes with the company’s soon to be released MRR series motors.

Ware & Barton wins at Silverstone Winter Series

The recent January round of the Silverstone Winter Series saw Charlie Ware scoring the biggest win of his R/C career. He comfortably set the 2WD TQ, and took the win in front of his team mates Tom Yardy and Nathan Waters. In the 4WD class there was a close battle between Richard Barton and Matt Owen with Richard eventually taking the win with Matt 2nd and Dave Burton 3rd.

Russian Touring Masters 2016 – Announcement

The 2016 edition of the Russian Touring Masters will take place from the 25th of 27th of March in St. Petersburg, Russia. The third installation of the event will be held in the three classes of Touring Modified, Touring Stock 17.5T Blinky and Touring Stock 13.5T with the latter class using select motor and speedo combos. Beside the fastest Russian drivers the race will see the appearance of some fast international racers such as Viljami Kutvonen, Max Mächler, and Marcel Geiger.
