Orlowski does the double at DHI Cup

Michal Orlowski has done double at the DHI Cup retaining both Offroad titles at the Danish event.  Having wrapped up the 2WD after 2 A-Mains earlier in the day, mistakes in the opening 4WD main meant the things would go to A3 but having learnt from his errors in A1 Orlowski took convincing wins in A2 and A3 to complete the perfect start to his 2018 season. With new Schumacher team-mate Joern Neumann winning A1, the German would back this up with two second places to claim second overall for the first Schumacher 1-2 at a major international event in a long time. Completing an impressive weekend for himself, Elias Johansson completed the podium in Odense with the 13-year-old marking himself as one to watch in 2018.

Davide Ongaro wins One Race One Man event

The famous IBR Padova indoor off-road facility in Italy played host to the inaugural One Race One Man event this past weekend. The race attracted some of the fastest 1/8th off-road racers of the country as well as guests from abroad and it was Italy’s Davide Ongaro (Team Associated) who laid down some impressive runs in qualifying to take the overall TQ. However after the semi finals it was Kyosho’s Riccardo Berton with the pole position for the 45-minute A-main. At the start of the main event, Mugen’s Robert Batlle was able to get into the lead but a mistake some minutes into the race meant he would drop down the order, making way for Riccardo who was challenged by Davide Ongaro, Elliott Booth, Robert Batlle and Marco Baruffolo later in the race. In the final stages Davide was able to get close to Riccardo but it looked like Berton would be able to bring home the win only to run out of fuel in the very last lap, promoting Davide Ongaro into the lead who would bring home the win from Riccardo Berton 2nd and new Xray signing Marco Baruffolo 3rd.

Neumann wins opening 4WD encounter

Joern Neumann was a surprise winner of the opening A-Main of 4WD at the DHI Cup, the new Schumacher signing benefiting from mistakes from both his team-mate Michal Orlowski and young Swedish star Elias Johansson.  Starting from the TQ, freshly crown 2WD champion Orlowski would make a mistake allowing Johansson to go to the front.  Chasing down the Associated driver, the Pole would touch wheels with the 2WD runner up with sending his car flying off the track with it getting caught up in the sponsor banners of the drivers stand.  Losing around 4-seconds Orlowski would rejoin behind Neumann, with Johansson looking good for the win but with little over a minute to run he would make a mistake in the centre section of the track rolling onto the straight with both Schumacher’s getting through.  Neumann would see off Orlowski while a second mistake would prevent Johansson from trying to retake the lead with him crossing the line 3rd.

Orlowski makes it 3 in a row at DHI Cup

Michal Orlowski has made it three 2WD titles in a row at the DHI Cup, the Schumacher driver successfully defending his title with the perfect performance.  Top Qualifier in Odense, taking all four qualifiers, the Polish driver secured the title when he backed up his A1 win with another in A2. Rather than sit out A3, he would use the track time to test, taking that also despite coming under pressure from star of the weekend Elias Johansson.  Johansson would finish second overall being the only driver to mount any challenge to Orlowski over the weekend.  With former champions David Ronnefalk and Joern Neumann not delivering the level of performances expected, Jesper Rasmussen enjoyed a strong race to complete the 2WD podium.
