Wing rule causes some issue on Day 1 of WC

Wing rule causes some issue on Day 1 of WC

A wing rule that was introduced in April 2014, caused drivers some issue on the opening day of the 1:8 Offroad World Championship as IFMAR started to enforce the ruling that came about as a result of the race numbers used at the 2010 World in Thailand.  The ruling, which states the rear wing side plates must have a space 50mm x 40mm in which to place the car’s race number, was not enforced at the previous Worlds in Italy 2-year-ago because no manufacturer had created a wing that met the newly drawn up specification.  In November 2015, EFRA, the European governing body, voted to remove the ruling from its handbook as it had not been followed by the industry.  Shortly after however, Kyosho would design & release a wing based on the ruling and as a result IFMAR had to enforce the ruling leaving drivers to either purchase a Kyosho wing, many drivers very sceptical over the real reason for the ruling due to the fact Kyosho had 100’s of wings in stock at the track, or extend the wing side plates of the brand of wing they use.

Maclan Racing MMax Pro competition brushless ESC

Maclan Racing MMax Pro competition brushless ESC

Coming from Maclan Racing is the new MMax Pro 160A competition brushless speed controller. Developed from the ground up over the last 18 month the speedo utilises an ultra-high performance 32-bit CPU as its central processing brain and compared to the last generation 8-bit CPUs, the 32-bit CPU in the MMax Pro ESC runs at much higher clock speed and bandwidth. The speedo utilises a completely redesigned all-new algorithm firmware to maximise its strength while offering the smoothest throttle and the strongest yet precise braking. The controller offers 12 pre-loaded profiles for all on-road and off-road applications including Stock blinky and low-turn Modified racing. All parameters are adjustable using the on-board USB port and Maclan’s MS Windows-compatible software. Other features include a full aluminium case for improved cooling, it comes with a high-voltage 30mm turbo fan, adjustable 6V to 7.4V high-voltage BEC system and data logging capability. The controller will hit the stores by end of October.

Malin Karlsen sweeps OMK Fall Classic Rd4

Malin Karlsen sweeps OMK Fall Classic Rd4

The fourth round of the OMK Fall Classic 2WD Buggy race series was held under floodlight at the OMK astro turf track. The race format was open practice followed by three qualifiers and triple mains. Xray’s Malin Karlsen swept the qualifiers to take a dominant TQ with the only 15-laps run of the evening and she also brought home an easy win in the opening A-main. A2 was a different affair though as her buggy got hit from behind in the first corner and so she dropped down the order but with some swift laps she easily recovered to get back into the lead and to take the win and with it the overall victory at round 4 from Serpent driver Marius Kristensen and Team Associated pilot Morten Bremsrud.
