Tamiya to re-release the Blackfoot

Japanese company Tamiya is set for another 1980’s icon re-release, this time in the form of the Blackfoot 2WD truck. Based off of the Frog 2WD 1/10th scale buggy and sharing the same chassis as the already released Monster Beetle, the 2016 edition of the Blackfoot will very likely offer the same improvements as the Monster Beetle re-release, such as rear universal driveshafts with dirt boots. More information will become available in time for the release which has yet to be announced.

Patrick Hofer doubles at Swiss E–Buggy opener

Round one and two of the Swiss 1/8th E–Buggy National Championship was held at the MORC Oberbüren track in great weather conditions and with a total of 36 drivers in attendance. The track recently underwent some changes with the multi-surface layout should be now doing away with the dust issues the club was faced before. The now high-grip surface made for new challenges for the drivers, cars and tyres. In qualifying Patrick Hofer and Robin Frischkopf battled for the overall TQ with the better end for Patrick who would take the pole position after the qualifiers. During the triple A–mains on Saturday, Robin wasn’t able to challenge Patrick as he was also under pressure from the drivers behind. Ultimately he Robin would still be able to bring home the runner–up spot behind Patrick while Kevin Zwahlen rounded out the top 3.

TLR 22-4 2.0 1/10th 4WD electric buggy kit

Following a first teaser image Team Losi Racing have now officially revealed the 22-4 2.0 1/10th scale 4WD electric buggy kit. Based off of the previous vehicle the 2.0 features subtle refinements and improvements such as reinforced front wishbones that do away with the breaking issues associated with the original design. Also new is a rear aluminium camber plate that features vertical ball stud mounting positions and a reduced number of mounting holes for the inner camber link pivots, making for easier and more convenient roll centre adjustments using shims. The redesigned rear end is finished off by an optimised suspension geometry with the off-set rear hubs making for a wider track, resulting in a more planted feel.

KO Propo RSx one10 Type S low-profile servo

KO Propo’s popular RSx one10 range of servos soon gets an addition in the form of the RSx one10 Type S. The high-voltage compatible servo, on show during this week’s Shizuoka Hobby Show, measures 41×25.5x21mm and it weighs in at 51g. It features a coreless motor and will pull up to 8.2kg-cm at a speed of down to 0.08s/60°. More information will become available in time for the release.

Aaron Stringer wins at 2016 Rock Cup

Over 120 racers rolled into Rockhampton, Australia for the recent 2016 Rock Cup. This is one of the most anticipated races of the year for many drivers with epic track conditions and great competition. Saturday morning would begin with controlled practice, followed by three rounds of qualifying. Aaron Stringer went onto TQ rounds one and two of Nitro Buggy and would finish off the day with a 2nd in round three. The fourth and final round of qualifying was ran Sunday morning where Aaron would go onto lay down an impressive run to secure the overall TQ. He would then go onto dominate the Nitro Buggy A-Main Event by leading every lap and cruising home for the win.

JConcepts have introduced the yellow-colour Dirt Racing Products Dirt Bands rubber tyre glueing bands. A uniquely moulded design, specifically developed for tyre mounting, the rubber band is produced in a high-elasticity material capable of stretching to a full assortment of different sized tyres including 1/10th, SCT and 1/8th buggy tyres. A finely detailed array of ergonomically shaped handles allows the user to adjust the rubber band to the sidewall of each tyre to apply the pressure where it is needed. The Dirt Bands are coloured in Dirt’s signature yellow colour and will include four bands per package.

The latest TLR vehicle to receive a year 2016 treatment is the company’s somewhat ageing 22-4 1/10th 4WD buggy kit, according to several leaked images and an official announcement. No details are known yet but it is understood that the kit will feature updated front wishbones for increased durability while the rear end received a make-over with a new aluminium camber link plate sporting vertically mounted inner camber ball studs for easy roll centre adjustments. It is also highly likely that the 2.0 kit will take a shorty LiPo pack right from the box and it may also feature revised front and rear differentials. All information about features and specifications will become available on the 12th of May.

Exotek XB2 optional rear suspension holders

Coming from Exotek and made for the XB2 2WD off-road buggy are new rear/front brass and rear/rear aluminium suspension holders. Starting with the RF suspension mount, the part is machined from heavy brass material to add 18 gram of weight in front of the rear axle. Doing so will add traction and stability when track conditions call for it with the mount sporting a protective black coating while remaining the stock geometry. The RF mount is usable on both the Carpet and Dirt Edition kits.
