JR Mitch doubles at ROAR Region 4 Championships

JR Mitch doubles at ROAR Region 4 Championships

Superior Hobbies Beachline Raceway was the host of this year’s ROAR Region 4 1/10th electric off-road championships. The large turnout and hot weather made for three long hot days of exciting R/C racing. Practice on Friday saw drivers from all over Florida and even a few from Georgia arrive to do battle for the coveted regional titles. Saturday started early with two hours of open practice starting at 7 am followed by three rounds of qualifying. Sunday was another early start with two hours of open practice before the start of the triple A-mains. In 2WD Mod buggy JR Mitch would start 2nd on the grid. JR put in a great run to win A1, but in A2 JR would retire early with a mechanical issue setting things up for an interesting A3. In A3 JR would capitalise on an early mistake and take over the lead, there he was able to hang on to clench the 2WD Mod title. In 4WD Mod Buggy JR Mitch would show in the mains why he was the top qualifier taking the win in A1 and A2 to take his second title of the weekend.

Maifield doubles at ROAR 1/8 EP Off-road & SCT Nats

The 2016 ROAR 1/8 Electric Buggy/Truggy and 1/10 4×4 Modified Short Course National Championships were held this past weekend at Stateline R/C on the Michigan/Indiana border. In 1/8 E-Buggy TLR’s Ryan Maifield steered his buggy to the overall TQ in the class thanks to three round TQ’s while in 1/8 E-Truggy Ryan had to fend off attacks from TLR team mate Dakotah Phend who took Q2 but overall Ryan would take a second TQ that weekend thanks to also coming out fastest in Q4. In 1/10 4×4 Modified Short Course Ryan cemented his will to make it a triple by again taking the overall TQ and the pole position for the triple A-mains. With bad weather in the forecast for Sunday, ROAR made the decision to run the opening A-mains and some of the lower mains on Saturday which turned out to be a wise choice as indeed rain kicked in on Sunday, washing away any chances for more track time.

STRC Arrma 1/10th 2WD alloy option parts

STRC Arrma 1/10th 2WD alloy option parts

STRC have introduced more aluminium option parts for Arrma’s line of 1/10th scale 2WD vehicles. The new launch includes aluminium front and rear shock tower braces, heavy duty front skid plates, and machined aluminium hex adapters for the front and the rear. The shock tower braces greatly improve the durability of the upper shock mounting location and eliminates flex of the shock tower while the CNC-machined front skid plate is made out of thick high-quality aluminium to take a lot more abuse than the stock plastic piece and to provide much better protection to the front hinge-pin area. The CNC-machined aluminium hex adapters feature set-screws that pins the hex adapters to the axle so the hex adapter does not fall off and cause to lose the drive pin when removing the wheels. The components are available in anodised blue, gun metal and red.

RDRP XB2 2.5mm carbon fibre main chassis plate

Revolution Design Racing Products have introduced a 2.5mm carbon fibre main chassis plate for the Xray XB2 buggy. 0.5mm thicker than the standard alloy chassis, the carbon fibre part offers optimised flex characteristics, especially aimed at low to medium-grip clay tracks. On top of this the increased thickness also adds much needed strength to the rear end of the chassis, doing away with breaking issues. The limited edition chassis fits both the carpet and dirt edition kits and it is available now.
