3rd Annual Québec Classic – Announcement

The 3rd Annual Québec Classic will be held in Eastern Canada from August 25th to 28th. The organisers have found a new location for the event at Bego Racing RC Raceway right next to the Napierville Dragway and only 20 minutes away from downtown Montréal. It also is only a five hours drive from NYC and Toronto. Track design will be taken care of by Levi Jackson of SikTrack Design and the race schedule will see 12 hours of free practice starting Thursday, followed by 7 minute qualifiers on Friday and Saturday with the mains run on Sunday. Classes are Nitro Buggy and Truggy, E-Buggy and E-Truggy as well as SC 4WD with sign-up being available here. For more questions feel free to contact the organisers at jerome@jtq.ca.

Reds Racing R5R V3.0 combo packages

Italian company Reds Racing have introduced their new R5R engine combo packages. Available in two specifications both include the R5R Racer 3.0 engine, Reds Racing 2104 pipe combined with S manifold, as well as 6.5 and 7.0 mm venturi inserts. What separates them is the Quattro clutch system as the combos are available with or without the popular 4-shoe clutch. As for the R5R Racer V3.0 engine, it features the HCX horizontal carburettor, silicon-filled and tuned crankshaft, sleeve with 5 inlet ports and classic exhaust port, high-sealing front bearing, and rear high-quality chrome steel bearing. All parts are matched, measured by Mario Rossi within certain tolerances and hand-built by him personally.

Samix SCX10 3.5mm aluminium motor plate

Coming from Samix and made for Axial’s SCX10 kit is a 3.5mm aluminium motor plate. The part features a machined heatsink design with ribs on both the front and the back side, enlarging the plate’s surface for improved heat dissipation while also making for a good amount of rigidity. The motor plate is a direct fit for the SCX10, Wraith and AX10 and it is available in the four colours of green, red, gun metal and black.

Rivkin & Maifield successful at ROAR Fuel Nationals

This past weekend saw the running of the 2016 ROAR 1/8th Fuel Off-road Nationals at Thornhill Raceway in Hutto, Texas. TLR’s Ryan Maifield would double TQ the event but in the hour-long Nitro Buggy A-main it was Team Associated’s Spencer Rivkin who stole the show by taking the win with a narrow 1.5s from Maifield. Spencer would take the lead in the early stages of the main while Maifield dropped down the order, letting Ryan Cavalieri (Team Associated) and Ryan Lutz (Tekno) by. Also in the mix was HB’s Ty Tessmann who even lead in the early stages of the race but once things settled in, Spencer would control the pace from the front with team mate Ryan Cavalieri in tow. The latter would then fall back in the closing stages, allowing Maifield to put pressure on Rivkin while also Tessmann regained a podium spot shortly after. Ultimately Rivkin would bring home his first big national title in style to add to his Stock Buggy and Short Course Championships and his IFMAR 2WD World Championship title.

Juan Carlos Canas takes 1/8th Buggy B Euros title

The Clube de Radiomodelismo in Freixedas, Portugal played host to the 2016 EFRA 1/8th Buggy European Championship B over the weekend. Gonçalo Melo took out the Top Qualifer honours after four rounds of high-intensity driving, just pipping fellow Junior driver Juan Carlos Canas on a tie-breaker. Both finished with 224 points after the four rounds, but a slightly better result for Melo in round four gave him the edge when dropped scores, of which each driver had two, were taken into account.

Ryan Maifield double TQs ROAR Fuel Offroad Nats

Qualifying of the 2016 ROAR 1/8th Fuel Offroad Nationals at Thornhill Circuit in Hutto, Texas saw TLR’s Ryan Maifield walking away with double TQs in Nitro Buggy and Nitro Truck. Scoring four round TQs on the opening day of qualifying, Team Associated’s Spencer Rivkin denied Maifield the same spectacle on the second day by coming out fastest in the final Truck qualifier. Maifield had to settle for second, only a couple of tenth of a second shy of Rivkin’s time. Behind Maifield, Kyosho’s Jared Tebo, HB’s Ty Tessmann and Tekno’s Ryan Lutz would complete the top 4 while in Truggy Spencer Rivkin, Ty Tessmann and Jared Tebo made up the top 4.
