Reedy HV digital aluminium competition servos

Reedy HV digital aluminium competition servos

Team Associated have introduced two new Reedy competition servos. The RS1806A Hi-Speed (0.06s/18.4kg-cm) and RT2207A Hi-Torque (0.07s/21.2kg-cm) Digital Competition servo were designed with 1/8th buggy and truggy racing in mind as their all-aluminium case reduces operating temperatures while increasing rigidity and strength. Durable precision metal gear drivetrain and advanced microprocessor improve vehicle control and on-track performance while the high-voltage compatibility allows the use of 2S LiPo receiver batteries, resulting in high speeds and maximum torque. The servos are equipped with powerful coreless motors, they are water and dust resistant and come with aluminium mounting hardware and an aluminium clamping servo horn.

Orlowski holds overnight TQ in Denmark

Orlowski holds overnight TQ in Denmark

Michal Orlowski has kicked off his 2016 season perfectly with the Schumacher driver securing the provisional overnight 2WD Buggy TQ at the DHI Cup.  Having topped practice at the Danish event, the 14-year-old carried his pace into qualifying taking the opening two rounds from the Swede Niclas Mansson who sits an impressive second overnight.  Improving one place to claim P3 in the second of the four scheduled qualifiers, Joern Neumann lies third going into Day 2 followed by Xray’s Martin Bayer and Team Associated’s Joakim Nicolaisen.  Having shown promise in practice taking his D216 to the fourth fastest time, for defending champion David Ronnefalk the qualifiers would prove difficult.  Only 13th in Q1, a last lap crash in Q2 would cost the HB driver a second behind Orlowski and the Swede finds himself sitting 10th overall.

I’m very happy to be part of the Xray team. I believe that Xray work as hard as a company as I do as a racer. Xray wants to improve their products all the time and I hope I can help them with my 20+ years of experience. After building the first car, I was 100% sure I made the right decision – the quality and the fitments of everything is just unique in the RC industry and none of any other cars I ever built is even close to this. I´m really looking forward to some successful years together and I hope I finally found my new home.

Bayer fastest in 4WD at DHI Cup

Bayer fastest in 4WD at DHI Cup

Martin Bayer has set the 4WD Buggy pace on the opening day of the DHI Cup.  Despite being forced to sit out the final practice due to a servo failure, the Xray driver still managed to top the seeding list thanks to his 3-consecutive pace of the opening timed practice. Closest to the Czech ace was HB’s David Ronnefalk, the Swede improving on his opening time by a tenth of a second to get within 2/10ths of Bayer. Having set the pace in 2WD practice, Michal Orlowski would end up third fastest but the Schumacher driver was a considerable 7/10ths off the pace. For defending champion Joern Neumann, sixth would be the best the Serpent driver could manage behind Yokomo team-mates Tom Cockerill and Frederik Hovgaard.

Axial Trail Breaker brushed electric motors

Axial Trail Breaker brushed electric motors

Axial have introduced the Trail Breaker brushed electric motors. Although brushless motors are the way to go in competition off-road racing, the often smoother brushed motors are still commonly used in some specialised applications such as rock crawling. Axial’s Trail Breaker rebuildable brushed motors were designed exclusively for RC rock crawlers and high-torque applications. Within the motor sealed precision ball bearings at each end improve efficiency and performance and beyond that are a balanced commutator and hard brushes, designed with long wear characteristics in mind, making it ideal for more run time and less down time. The motor is available in a 35T variant for more wheel speed and a 55T version with increased torque.
