Team Orion Carbon Pro Ultra & V-Max LiHV packs

Team Orion have introduced a range of new LiPo battery packs such as the Carbon Pro Ultra and V-Max Outlaw HV series. First up is the competition-legal Carbon Pro Ultra series. The packs are built using the latest generation of cells that offers very high power output thanks to a very low internal resistance thanks to enhanced energy density. The packs are available in a range of configurations including a lightweight 5800mAh standard pack, a 4800mAh 4S 1/8th scale pack, a 4000mAh 18.5mm XS saddle pack as well as several shorty packs. The latter come as 4500mAh 100C Torque and 5000mAh 110C Capacity variant both of which feature standard shorty 96x47x25mm dimensions. Also new is the shorter 3800mAh 110C XS shorty that measures 93x47x18.5mm at a weight of 155g. Next up is the thinner 3200mAh 110C XSS shorty with 96x47x16mm dimensions and a weight of 130g. Last but not least comes a 7400mAh 110C 1S pack of 93x47x18.5mm dimensions and a weight of 155g for 1/12th scale applications.

Team Orion VST2 Pro Mg brushless motors

Available soon from Team Orion are the Vortex VST2 Pro Mg 540 and 690-size brushless motors with magnesium can. Magnesium is a widely used metal in automotive racing, aircraft and spacecraft manufacturing and around 33 percent lighter than aluminium but with similar mechanical characteristics as alloy. The motors use the same technology as the standard VST2 Pro with the 540-size motors also featuring a new sensor design for improved performance and efficiency. The 540-size motor weighs in at 180g and it will become available as 5.5T, 6.5T and 7.5T Modified and 13.5T and 17.5T Stock variant while the 690-class 1/8 motor, weighing in at 323g, is a fixed timing 4-pole 2100kv offering. All offer dual sensor ports and Gold-plated heavy duty solder tabs.

Exotek TLR22 3.0 alloy steering set & servo mounts

Exotek have new aluminium option parts for the TLR22 3.0 buggy available in the form of a steering set as well as servo mounts. Starting with the steering set, it contains fully machined 7075 alloy parts such as the steering rack and bellcranks. The new design adds four 3x6mm ball bearings and two crush sleeves for the longest wearing, smoothest and most precise operation. The parts are of an extra heavy duty design, the assembly matches the stock geometry and it includes four ball bearings, two crush sleeves, two alloy cranks and an alloy steering rack. It uses the stock TLR posts, hardware and post bearings and it fits all TLR vehicles with TLR 2.0 nylon steering sets, such as the 22 3.0, 22SCT 2.0, and 22T 2.0. The second new part is the alloy servo mount set for the TLR22 3.0. The precision machined heavy duty alloy servo mounts are of a solid design that installs easily into the buggy while weighing only 6.7g total for both parts. The mounts come polished and anodised in factory black.

Rickside Design metal grease

New from Japanese company Rickside Design comes a high-temperature resistant metal grease for a range of applications. The lube is ideal for all metal-to-metal connections such as the cross and drive pins of universal and CV driveshafts as well as all other applications where friction and heat build-up is a problem. The high-viscosity grease comes in convenient 10g snap cap cans and it is available from end of January.

Arnaud Buffat wins at SIORC series Rd3

Round 3 of the Swiss SIORC series was held in Geneva last weekend. The 2WD class had Arnaud Buffat walking away with the day’s win from David Naldini on the runner-up spot. Cham Dassanayake would round out the top 3 result in front of Cyrille Gruaz and Didier Baltensperger.

Pro-Line Racing has announced the return of US frontrunner, Jared Tebo to their team. The former World Champion only announced his departure from long-term tyre sponsor AKA some weeks ago and he is now back with Pro-Line Racing to use their tyres and accessories. Jared has the following to say about the deal:

Maclan Racing have announced the addition of former National Champion and multi-time Worlds Finalist, Travis Amezcua to join their racing and development team for 2016. Travis has already been working with Maclan to develop its new line of high performance motors and speed controls. Travis’ first official outing for Maclan Racing will be at the 2016 Reedy Race of Champions that Red RC will cover live from Thursday the 21st on.

Spec-R MF-01X aluminium rear hub set

Spec-R have introduced an aluminium rear hub set for the Tamiya MF-01X off-road vehicle. Included are blue anodised aluminium uprights that utilise composite inserts for the suspension pins, as well as carbon fibre camber plates along a set of mounting hardware. The alloy hubs make for improved durability and precision while adding visual impact at the same time.
