Avid 1/8th Hex track width spacers

New from Avid are these 1/8th Hex track width spacers (17mm) which are a great way to adjust the width of any 1/8th scale buggy or truggy without having to change out your hubs. Typically this will help stabilize a vehicle by increasing track width and scrub. You can choose from two sizes, 1.0mm and 0.5mm, or just order a set that includes 6 of each size.

HPI Racing introduce the officially licensed replica Method rallycross wheels for the use with the company’s WR8 or any super-sized chassis. The wheels are perfectly suited for 2.2″ wheels, such as the WR8 Tarmac tyre D, the Gymkhana tyre D and the HPI Racing Slick tyre M. Beside a bright orange version there will also be a yellow variant available and the wheels come in sets of two.

Swiss 1/8th off-road championship Rd7 – Report

The 7th and final round of the Swiss 1/8th nitro off-road championship took place in the middle of the city of Morges near the lake Geneva. Run on a temporary grass track the race attracted a lot of spectators and around 120 drivers. A mix of high and low speed corners combined with only a few small jumps and a table top made for some close racing. During Saturday’s qualifying Robin Frischkopf TQ’d two rounds out of four and only missed overall TQ to Jeremy Pittet by one point. The 3rd place on Saturday went to Marc Heim.

Spencer Rivkin wins at STS Raceway Grand Opening

The brand new HobbyTown/SRS Raceway located in Phoenix, Arizona held their Grand Opening event over Labor Day weekend. The three day race kicked off on Friday night and continued throughout the weekend including the 2nd annual Jim Thomas Memorial Race on Saturday and a final race on Sunday. There would be one drop with an awards ceremony on Sunday for the top drivers of the mini series. In the 2WD Mod Buggy class Spencer Rivkin drove his Team Associated B5M to the top spot, edging out Brian Kinwald who took second overall and rounding out the all Team Associated podium was Ash Deering.

Avid 5.5mm & 4.9mm titanium ball studs

Avid introduce their new titanium ball studs for Team Associated B5 and SC10 4×4 vehicles as well as Xray’s T4 and XB4 cars. Coming as 5.5mm variant for the metric Team Associated kits and as 4.9mm pivots for the Xray cars, the ball studs are made from billet 6Al-4V titanium for around 40 percent less weight without sacrificing strength. A 2mm allen head on top of the ball helps makes for easy removal of the balls that come as complete sets for the aforementioned vehicles or as pairs in the most common dimensions.

Tamiya USA have more images of the forthcoming Super Champ re-release kit available. The now-called Fighting Buggy first hit the stores back in 1982, with the 2014 model featuring some subtle updates such as a black 2.5mm fibre glass chassis plate, newly designed rear suspension parts recreate the original transverse damper sets with progressive spring and oil reserve tank and an updated stick sheet retains many of the original themes while also adding some new motifs. Included with the kit come front rib and rear spike tyres on 3-piece wheels as well as a ABS resin body with aluminium roof panel and wing.

15th annual Hobby Haven Shootout – Report

Hobby Haven in Des Moines, Iowa was the host of the 15th annual Shootout race. Practice was scheduled to be most of the day Friday but with the bad weather the area was having the track was not going to be ready. The track crew worked most of the day putting lime on the track to help dry it out. With almost a full day of track work, mother nature did not let up and the organisers were forced to close it down for the day.
