Christopher Krapp joins Tamiya/TRF Factory Team

Christopher Krapp joins Tamiya/TRF Factory Team

Tamiya have announced the signing of German frontrunner Christopher Krapp. The former Kyosho factory driver is a multi-time IFMAR Touring Car Worlds finalist and he will join recently signed Naoto Matsukura and long-term Tamiya/TRF driver and 3-times ISTC World Champion Marc Rheinard. Christopher, who started his career driving a Tamiya, had the following to say about the deal:

First, I would like to thank Team Kyosho for their great support over the last 9 years. They always thrusted in me and we had a good time together. Personally I want to thank Chikuba-San, Mitsuo-San, Kenji-San and Daniel Haas and Frank Lemke. But now it’s time for a change. I am very excited and huge motivated for the next races and challenges. I choosed Tamiya/TRF because they always have the best touring cars on the market and best quality. For me it is like coming home because I began my racing with Tamiya chassis and won the Tamiya World Championship 2007 in Japan. My first race with the Team will be this week at the ETS in Italy and I can’t wait to race and work with my new Team members. A big thanks to Tamiya/TRF for giving me this opportunity and see you at the racetrack.

Avid Mi5evo aluminium main chassis

Avid Mi5evo aluminium main chassis

Coming from Avid and made for Schumacher’s Mi5evo touring car is Avid’s new aluminium main chassis set. It is made from 7075-T6 aluminium and comes with silver edge highlights on both sides. Added cutouts and enlarged diff cutouts reduce weight and increase flex while being thoughtful to keep enough material on the sides for the speedo to hold with servo tape. The included Avid battery mount system removes the need to have tape on the bottom of the chassis while the optional Schumacher carbon battery mount system may be utilised with a slight modification. Part of the package are also droop inserts that need some sanding to fit the thinner 2mm thickness chassis that in turn allows for a lower centre of gravity and lower roll centres than stock. The 84mm wide chassis is recommend for the use on high to medium bite conditions and the set includes the aluminium chassis, four plastic droop screw mounts, four M3x6 screws, two Avid battery mounts, and a Avid mini-decal.

RSD RX4-15 carbon fibre main chassis

RSD RX4-15 carbon fibre main chassis

Reflex Racing introduce the all-new RSD RX4-15 chassis for the Xray T4 2015 touring car. It is made from RSD 3K weave and available in a medium hardness 2.0mm and hard 2.25mm variant. The shape profiles for the chassis have been developed with a focus to provide a more consistent feel and less tyre overheating over a run. The design takes flex away from the bulkheads and moves it towards the centre which results in a more stable car that is easier to drive at high speed. Being made from “Quasi” carbon, which is stiffer due to the construction of the material, makes the 2.0mm chassis stiffer than the stock unit and the 2.25mm much stiffer. The 2.0mm chassis is recommended for most conditions, whether asphalt or carpet, with the 2.25mm being best used only in extreme high-grip situations.
