Keisuke Fukuda wins Zac Cup race

The 1st Zac Cup race was held at the Keitune Racing Track, host of this year’s WC, last weekend. While the entry for the 1/10th class was low, the quality was there with the best drivers in Japan attending. KM Racing driver Keisuke Fukuda took the top spot in qualifying ahead of Hirano, Watanzbe and Adachi. Former World Champion Fukuda would take a comfortable win ahead of Kyosho driver Watanzbe with Hirano taking the final podium spot after KM driver Adachi flamed out in the very last minutes due to running out fuel and lost out on the podium spot, eventually finishing in 4th.

Mark Green wins Rd2 in Weston Super Mare

Mark Green wins Rd2 in Weston Super Mare

Two weekends ago, Round 2 of the championship was hosted by the Mendip Club in Weston Super Mare. It is noted as round 2 since the first round was cancelled. However, after a drivers vote it was decided that the best course of action would be to scrap the first round and therefore the championship would become best 6 results from 8 rounds. The weekend was again sunny so no risk of using the wet tires which were evident many times last season. With an entry of around 42 drivers, with a good number of top drivers present, it would make for a fascinating fight up front. Also the midfield runners would have separate battles for supremacy within their respective GP2 and GP3 Championships.

After yet another strong performance, Alvin Koh continues to lead the drivers’ standings ahead of PY Tang (Team Xray Singapore). Despite winning the last 2 rounds, Nicholas Lee is still having to make up the deficit from missing the full points scoring Round 1 and is currently in 8th position in the standings. Meanwhile, Team Tamiya SG extends its lead in the team standings over Team Xray Singapore after yet another double podium. The season now takes a 1-month break before resuming with Round 5 on 7 July 2013.

Laszlo Kiss-Orban wins Rd2 of Hunagrian Nats

Hungary Rd2

The 2nd round of the 2013 Hungarian Nationals was held at the Kyosho World Modellcentrum track in Budapest recently. The weather was sunny during the training and race day, but there was some rain at night, so the grip was lower than usual. The track is small and very technical and the surface is bumpy, so the key issue was to find an aggressive but still stable enough setup for the 30 minutes final. Laszlo Kiss-Orban started from the pole position in the 1/10th 200mm class and after the first refueling had built up a 1 lap gap in front of the field. Thanks to his consistent driving and the excellent pit works of his mechanics Janos Lakatos, Laszlo was able to keep this gap throughout the whole run and finished at the top of the podium with 2 laps ahead the 2nd car, Laszlo Szebelledi. Third position went to Antal Fehér.

Silvio Hächler wins Swiss EFRA GP

Last weekend the Swiss EFRA GP was held at the famous Lostallo track, but this time run in the opposite direction to normal. The track is really big with a very long straight and so it would be really hard to run the 5 minutes without a pit stop. After a wet Friday it was a sunny Saturday allowing for some nice racing. At the front the tactics were really different, Simon Kurzbuch, Claudio Paquin and Remy Hasler the 2nd till 4th from qualification did their runs all without a pit stop, the only one who was able to top this time was Silvio Hächler with fast runs including one pit stop.
