Serpent 747-e full kit

Serpent 747-e full kit

Following the 747-e conversion kit Serpent now introduce a full kit allowing to build an electric-powered 747 car from scratch. The idea behind the conversion of a nitro-powered sedan into a whisper-silent electric racer is to offer a more solid platform to race on nitro outdoor track where noise emission can be a problem. The kit is based around a carbon fibre chassis with tough front and rear aluminium bulkheads, a specially designed aluminium motor mount and wide track suspension components taken over from the 747. The kit features a laydown servo mount, ball-raced anti-roll bars, carbon fibre battery holders, aluminium shock absorbers, as well as front CVD and rear dogbone driveshafts and it is usable with 200mm touring car bodyshells. In terms of the power unit the car is best powered by a 3S LiPo battery pack in combination with a 540-size 4-pole motor and an 1/8th scale speed controller. The 747-e kit will become available by end of April.

Akio Sobue takes win at 2014 Speed King Tour Rd3

Akio Sobue takes win at 2014 Speed King Tour Rd3

The third round of 2014 Speed King Tour took place at the RC Stadium Sodegaura track last weekend. Unfortunately the finals of all classes had to be cancelled due to hailing. This meant the qualifying results would be used to determine the winner and in the main class of Modified Touring Car it was the championship leader Akio Sobue who brought home the TQ and therefore the round win. Local driver Kyoichi Mastumoto took second place while second round winner Yugo Nagashima finished third. The win in round 3 means Akio is able to extend his lead in the championship while Yugo needs to score more points to catch up. The win in the Stock class went to Eiji Seto who sat on top of the timesheets after qualifying. Yahiro and Ooshima scored a 2nd and 3rd place respectively. The next round of the 2014 Speed King Tour will take place at the Twin Ring Hongu in the Aichi prefecture on the 22nd of June.

3Racing LED setup board & pit light

3Racing LED setup board & pit light

3Racing introduce two new pit accessories in the form of a LED backlit setup board and a LED pit light. Starting with the setup board, it is designed for cars of up to 220mm in width and sports two bubble tubes to make sure it sits nice and level on the pit table. A pink-themed graphic allows the LED backlight to shine through for a bit of added illumination in dark surrounds, without being to harsh for the eyes. The setup board can also be used in combination with the second new part from 3Racing, a LED pit light. The lamp is of a foldable design and it can be used as a stand alone device but it also is attachable to the aforementioned setup board using a threaded bushing. There is no release date yet but both accessories should be available soon.
