Hofer wins 4WD buggy at Köngen Indoor Masters

The Köngen Indoor Masters took place last weekend in Köngen, Germany counting around 120 entries in several electric off-road classes. Saturday started with 2 practice and 4 qualifying runs. Team Associated’s Patrick Hofer dominated the proceedings and took pole position in both the 2WD and 4WD buggy classes. Sunday began with the 5th qualification run which was either a warm-up and or the last change to get into the main finals. Later in the 4WD finals Hofer dominated the field by winning 3 out of the 3 A-mains easily. Benni Gröschl (Team Durango) finished in 2nd place and Markus Metsch (Schumacher) came in 3rd. In 2WD the fight between Benni Gröschl and Patrick Hofer was on but Patrick crashed and Benni took the win. Patrick finished in 2nd place and Luca Rau (Kyosho) took the final podium spot.

Carson Wernimont joins Mugen USA

Mugen Seiki Racing have announced the signing of Carson Wernimont for the 2014 racing season. The former Durango driver, who just signed for Schumacher to run electric, joins Worlds finalist Taylor Peterson and will be a strong addition to the team that Mugen USA is building for the 2014 race season.

Alex Zanchettin wins 2014 Italian Job Race

Alex Zanchettin wins 2014 Italian Job Race

The 2014 Italian Job Race took place at the famous IBR Padova indoor dirt track in Italy. The race attracted a good amount of European top drivers like IFMAR World Champion Robert Batlle, Renaud Savoya, Yannick Aigoin and Elliott Booth to name just a few. The finals where run in a triple A main format over the standard “single leg” final making for loads of track time and an exciting race for the overall crown. At the end of the three 15 minute legs it was TLR’s Alex Zanchettin who brought home the F1 category win on home soil in front of Robert Batlle (Mugen) and Xray’s Renaud Savoya. Alex started with a win in A1 but had to make way for Robert Batlle and David Ronnefalk (Kyosho) in A2. The third and decisive final than had Alex taking the win in front of Renaud Savoya and Martin Wollanka (Xray) to take the overall victory in front of Robert Batlle and Renaud Savoya.

CRCRC Winter Midwest Championships – Report

The 2014 CRCRC Winter Midwest Championships took place at the Ohio RC Factory with an impressive 458 total race entries making this one of the biggest CRCRC Winter Midwest Champs of all time. In 2WD Modified Team Associated’s Ryan Maifield made a clean sweep in the finals by winning the first and second A main handing him the overall win with one A-main to go. Behind him Kyosho’s Jared Tebo and Team Associated’s Ryan Cavalieri battled for the second spot with Cav eventually taking it with two second place finishes. Jared Tebo ended in third while Tanner Denney completed the top 4 after winning the final A main.

PSM B-Max4 III carbon fibre chassis coming soon

PSM soon have another option part for the Yokomo B-Max4 III 4WD buggy available in the form of a carbon fibre main chassis plate. The chassis is designed to replace the standard aluminium part with a trick CF variant that features a direct cooling system for indoor use while a dust cover and fan mount make it also ideal for outdoor races. The chassis is set for a February release with more information available soon.

DHI Cup hat trick for Neumann

Joern Neumann remains the unbeaten 4WD Buggy champion of the DHI Cup, the Team Durango driver completing a hat trick of wins at the Danish event today.  The 14th running of the famous touring car event, the German was the first Offroad winner since the discipline was introduced in 2012 and today’s 4WD win see him remain unbeaten.  Having seen his chances of a complete sweep of the event he made his own the last two years dashed when Schumacher’s Tom Cockerill took the overall 2WD win earlier in the day, Neumann got the job done in 4WD. After a not so great start to 4WD, a mistake giving rival Martin Bayer the A1 win, he would make up for it in A2 & A3 to secure the top step on the podium ahead of Xray’s European Champion with young up & coming Danish driver Jesper Rasmussen completing overall Top 3.

Cockerill takes 2WD Buggy DHI Cup title

Schumacher’s Tom Cockerill claimed his first DHI Cup title winning 2WD Buggy thanks to a second A-Main win this morning. The British driver again benefited from a mistake by Top Qualifier Oskar Levin would made an almost identical mistake to the one which Cockerill made himself in A1.  This allowed the Schumacher designer go to the front on lap 4 and despite some close attention from outgoing champion Joern Neumann in the latter part of the race he would see off the German taking the leg by 7/10ths of a second.  The 14th running of the Danish event with offroad introduced three years ago, Cockerill’s win ends Neumann’s domination of the event with the Durango driver being the only one to have previously held the DHI Offroad titles.

Bayer leads the way in 4WD qualifying at DHI

Reigning European Champion Martin Bayer made his intentions clear in the opening two rounds of 4WD Buggy qualifying at the DHI Cup taking his Xray XB4 to a pair of 15-laps run at the Odense based event.  In the opening qualifier the Czech ace was the only driver to record 15-laps setting the fastest time ahead new young Team Associated signing Jesper Rasmussen.  The second encounter was a closer affair with defending champion Joern Neumann becoming only the second driver to run 15-laps.  A bad lap by Bayer meant the Durango driver would finish the round just 1/10th of a second adrift.
