Robert Battle walked away with the win at the final round of the Spanish 1/8th Buggy nationals. In the 45 minute final he beat Kyosho driver Luis Ignacio Candel who came in second position, one lap down. Bryan Baldo finished third, Oscar Baldo and Jorge Soler Diaz completed the top 5.

The recent Benvenuti al Sud race took place at a spectacular track with an elevation difference of 15 metres. The F1 Buggy class saw Mugen’s Davide Tortorici taking TQ and also the race win in front of Mugen team mates Giuliano Giusa and Luigi Tridico. TLR drivers Maurizioi Tinnirello and Francesco Errigo completed the top 5.

Prototypes of MIP’s Pro8 buggy have been around for some time and now the company released a first official image of the kit. The set is designed to convert a Losi SCTE 1.0 or TLR SCTE 2.0 into a super lightweight 1/8th buggy that will make use of the chassis, drivetrain and most of the suspension parts of TLR’s 1/10th 4WD short course truck. The lightweight drivetrain parts and somewhat lighter shocks combined with the possibility to run lighter motors and battery packs makes for an overall lighter buggy, perfect for tight indoor and outdoor tracks. There is no official release date yet but we guess it the kit should hit the stores soon.

Xray introduce this ultra low-profile body shell for the XB9e 1/8th off-road buggy. The high performance body is of a low centre of gravity and very aerodynamic design to not only stand out from the crowd but also increase the performance of the buggy. The sides of the body were specially designed to perfectly match the shape of the side guards, preventing dirt from entering. The rear body mount hole is oval-shaped to ensure the necessary body movement when landing jumps, while the mild cab forward design in combination with the low profile design ensures perfect aerodynamics. Xray announce the seven round Xray Challenge Moravia and Slovakia Cup. The cup will be held at the Hudy Racing Arena in Trencin, Slovakia on seven weekends starting at the 19th of October with the last round being held at the 29th of March 2014. The race schedule sees open practice on the Friday afternoons with three qualifiers and finals being run on Saturday. Classes run at the events are 2WD and 4WD Buggy, Formula, Formula Classic, Pan Car 1/10, Touring Car 21.5T Blinky, Touring Car 17.5T Blinky and Touring Car Modified. JConcepts introduce the front axle conversion for the TLR 22 line of vehicles. A critical point of the conversion revolves around the front axle and surrounding geometry with the goal to convert the front axle to a more user friendly design. The conversion includes two front high-grade steel axles with incorporated wheel hex and threaded shaft allowing the use a traditional 4mm lock-nut instead of the stock screw type design. A low-profile, aluminium 4mm locknut has been included which features an inner serrated surface which grips the wheel when tightened for locking security. This design can easily be installed on the 22 buggy line of vehicles including the newly released TLR 22 2.0.

The fifth and final round of the Irish 1/8th off-road nationals took place at the NIMCC track in Ballymena. Mark Penny (Kyosho/Bullett/VP Pro) took TQ in the nitro class ahead of Alan Scroggie (Agama/Bullett/Beta) and Bradley Baird (JQ/nVision/VP Pro). In the 45 minute nitro main Bradley Baird got a clean start and put himself in from within the first 10 minutes. As he neared the last round of fuel stops Bradley had extended the lead to around 20 seconds but fuel gun problems made an unscheduled fuel stop necessary which allowed Mark Penny to close up. Bradley needed to have a podium finish in order to secure the overall championship so he pushed hard to hold the lead and eventually he took the win in front of Mark Penny and Barkley Abernathy (Agama/Bullett/Beta) securing him the 2013 national title.
