The event was also the warm-up race of this year’s 4WD German nationals in August. The 2013 edition of the IRoC saw 123 entries in four classes. Free practice on Friday went till 11 o’clock at night with a full rostrum all the time followed by the famous drivers party. The weather was perfect all weekend except of a little thunderstorm Saturday evening, that cost the usual floodlight qualifying heat. The man to beat in Buggy qualifying was Team Durango’s Hupo Hönigl who won all five 2WD qualification rounds and four out of five 4WD rounds. Yaiba Racing B4 ESC tray & LiPo strap

Yaiba Racing B4 ESC tray & LiPo strap

Yaiba Racing from Japan have two new carbon fibre option parts for Team Associated’s B4 line of buggies available in the form of a multifunctional ESC tray and a LiPo battery strap. Starting with the tray, the mounting platform for electronic speed controllers is designed to rest on the rear bulkhead of the chassis and allows the mounting of the speedo above or below the tray. Beside being a simple platform the carbon fibre part also offer openings and mounting positions for a large 40mm fan allowing for very good cooling even if the speedo is sandwiched between the chassis and the battery in its lower position. But the cleverness doesn’t stop there. The part comes with an add-on aluminium battery stop for shorty LiPo packs to make sure the controller is perfectly secured and the battery stays in place. The second new part is a 2mm carbon fibre battery plate in short specification for the use with all standard and regular length 2S LiPo batty packs. The part is designed to fit all B4-based vehicles and is useable with the stock or aftermarket thumb screws.

Baird & Rennick win at Irish off-road nats Rd2

Round two of the Irish 1/8th off-road nationals was held on a new track to the Irish calendar in Southern Ireland, Cork. The qualifying consisted of four seven minute heats and in the nitro buggy class Bradley Baird (JQ/nVision) TQ’d all four rounds and locked up qualifying. In the electric class JQ Products’ driver Andrew Rennick put in three consistent runs which put him third in the electric main. In the 45 minute nitro main, Bradley got off to a clean start and within the first 15 minutes he managed to pull a one lap lead over second place. As the final went on the tricky Cork surface began to rut up and become like a motocross track which made great racing and caught out the unprepared. Bradley kept it together to the end and claimed round two victory followed by Gary Baird (Kyosho/Bullett) and Alan Scroggie (Agama/Bullett). In the electric final it was a three battle for the lead with great racing right to the buzzer which saw Andrew Rennick take his JQ E car to the top step of the podium.
