David Ronnefalk wins Swedish VBC Cup

David Ronnefalk wins Swedish VBC Cup

Last weekend saw the final round of the Swedish VBC Cup that was arranged by Borås MRK. The main classes are 1/10 2WD and 4WD buggy who are driven on indoor carpet. The series was held over the course of six weekends with four rounds counting for the final rankings. The 2WD title was up between Kyosho’s David Ronnefalk and Team Associated/Advanced driver Niclas Månsson who were equal on points after the sixth round. The time keeper therefore decided to have a ‘Death Race’ between David and Niclas that was ultimately won by David handing him the overall series title in the 2WD class. David tried to copy his good pace for the 4WD final but struggled with setup meaning ‘only’ as second place on Sunday but the runner-up spot was good enough to win the 4WD class also meaning a clean sweep and therefore the ‘Supercup’ title for the young Swede.

Thanks to Pierre Ronnefalk for sending the report.

Updated Pro-Line BullDog body shells

Available soon from Pro-Line Racing are several new or updated BullDog design body shells for popular 1/8th and 1/10th scale buggies and trucks. Completely new is the High Downforce BullDog line for the Team Associated RC8.2 and the Hot Bodies D812. Chaos on the Coast Series Rd2 report

Chaos on the Coast Series Rd2 report

The 2nd round of the Chaos on the Coast Series hosted by Space Coast R/C went off without a hitch with 105 entries. The track was in great condition allowing the racers to take full advantage of the extreme traction producing some great side-by-side racing action. First round winner Brett Kingsbury was looking for a repeat, but the competition is heating up and making for some great battles. The 2WD Modified class saw Billy Easton and JConcepts driver Paul Wynn break away from the pack early, but a costly mistake by Billy ended his race early and Paul went on to win the 7min main with his JConcepts equipped B4.2 buggy; JConcepts driver Brett Kingsbury also finished a strong 3rd behind Ryan Johnson. Next up was 4WD mod and this was the Brett Kingsbury show as he went on to TQ and win by more than a lap on the field with his JConcepts equipped B44.2. Last class of the day was the Pro 2 SCT class and the day belonged to the youngster Chris Viesins. Chris took his JConcepts equipped TLR 22SCT from the TQ spot, straight to the top of the podium over 2nd place Rich Shaeffer and JConcepts team manager John Piant in 3rd.

Adam Drake wins truggy class at GRRS Rd2

Adam Drake wins truggy class at GRRS Rd2

The second round of the Grass Roots Racing Series race took place at the Thunder Alley Raceway in Beaumont, California. The event had 145 entries and the track will also host the first round of the JBRL Series in a few weeks. The weather was cool in the morning, but warmed up by mid-day to around 80 degrees. The track was hard packed and very technical and it was TLR’s Adam Drake who set the fastest times in nitro buggy and nitro truggy. In the truck final he took off from pole position and never looked back to take the win by two laps.  In the buggy final Adam battled with Drew Moller early, but was able to put in clean and consistent laps and had almost a lap lead with 5 minutes to go when he ran into steering servo problems that hindered his pace so we went on to finish second behind Drew Moller. Cody Smith finished third to make it a Pro-Line tire 1, 2 and 3 on the podium.

Spanish 1/8th EP buggy nationals report

Spanish 1/8th EP buggy nationals report

Last weekend the first round of the Spanish 1/8th off-road nationals took place at the new RC La Nucia track. Being of a high-speed design with some smaller double and triple jump sections setup was crucial. After the qualifying Serpent driver Sergio Martinez took TQ followed by Daniel Vega (Agama) and local driver Toni Alcalá (Serpent). The finals were a bit chaotic because the track became bumpy meaning drivers could run into errors easily. At the end European Champion Daniel Vega had the pace to win the race followed by TQ driver Sergio Martínez, and Alberto García (Serpent).
