Ronald Volker wins German 1/12th Nationals

The 2010 German 1/12th electric Championship was held over the weekend of 23-25th April at the high-traction and permanent racetrack in Schermbeck. Following qualification it was multiple European A-main finalist and Serpent/LRP driver Markus Mobers on the TQ spot followed by touring car World Champion Marc Rheinard in 2nd with his Associated/SP combo and in 3rd recent German TC indoor champion Ronald Völker with his Associated/LRP ride. As the finals got underway, it was Völker and Rheinard who got the best starts and they were the only ones to still have the chance for the overall win heading in to the last and decisive 3rd leg of the finals. As the tone went off for the start of the last final, Ronald had his chances of another title in 2010 significantly decreased as he got taken-out on the first lap. But Ronald never gave up and with great driving Ronald slowly started to close the gap to the leaders and with 2 min to go he managed to close up and pass Marc Rheinard for the lead and the overall championship. Marc Rheinard took 2nd overall, with Marc Fisher ending up in 3rd for Corally/GM.

ROAR drawing up provisional 1/8 Super GT rules

ROAR

ROAR is authoring rules for the “GT” category, which it will refer to as “1/8 Super GT” to avoid confusion with other categories that are also called “GT.” The rules pertain to the 1/8 off-road based vehicles that feature on-road passenger and road racing body shells. This is a category that’s been gaining in popularity due to reasonable cost, high durability, lower maintenance and the scale appearance of these big machines. ROAR desires to preserve the most appealing elements of what has made this a popular and growing category. ROAR invites all industry affiliates and current members to inquire with questions or additional suggestions for the rules.
