Adam Drake dominates Turkey Shootout

The 2011 Turkey Shootout was held at Hemet Competition Raceway last weekend. The event had 12 heats and Adam Drake set the pace in the 1/8th expert buggy and 4wd modified SC class. In the Expert 1/8th buggy class Adam took the win, but the battle was intense for second between Ronda Drake and Andrew Smolnik. Ronda made a pass on Andrew to start the final lap, but made a small mistake in the whoops which allowed Andrew by to take second in the 20 minute final. In the 4wd SC class Adam took the win again followed by his wife Ronda Drake with third going to Brian Sullivan. All three drivers were running the Losi SCTE.

Cavalieri double at Kyosho Fall Classic

The 2011 Kyosho Fall Classic was held last Saturday at Revelation Raceway in Ontario, CA. This annual event has been known to bring in some of the best nitro drivers from all over Southern California. This years event would be no exception. Drivers such as current 1/8 Buggy Nitro World Champion Cody King, Current ROAR 1/8 Buggy National Champion Ryan Cavalieri, Ty Tessman, Richard Saxton, Dylan Rodriguez, Drew Moller, and Jessie Robinson were all in attendance. The weather was great all day long staying in the 60’s.

Reds R5T buggy engine

Reds introduce the all new .21 5-port nitro buggy engine. Tuned by M. Rossi the long-stroke engine sports a 5-port chromed liner with booster exhaust ports, a CNC-machined billet aluminium piston, new separated and cooled combustion chamver and a light weight cooling head. Other features included are a 14mm balanced crankshaft, high strength connection rod, all Swiss-made ball bearing and a new composite slide carburettor.

Root double at Thanksgiving Throwdown Rd2

TLR and Losi’s Frank Root, Cody Turner, and Matt Castellano were on hand at the second round of the Thanksgiving Throwdown Series Saturday at West Coast R/C Raceway (WCRC). The track had fantastic traction, and a really fun and technical layout. The entry count was very strong with 19 full heats and a great day of racing was had by all.

Novak Diablo dual battery brushless system

Team Novak introduce the Diablo dual battery brushless system for monster trucks such as the Traxxas E-Maxx or HPI Savage that make use of dual battery power. The 550-size motor and speed controller are designed from the ground up to run from two 2S or 6-cell NiMH batteries as found in 1/10 scale vehicles. The controller features Novak’s own Bash Boost technology that boosts the performance of the motor by advancing the timing at a certain RPM and throttle position. The sensored 550-size motor sports a 5mm shaft and a one-piece, multi-pole sintered Neodymium magnet.

Pulse RC is a new Germany-based RC-Car option parts brand founded by Vampire Racing owner Sven Rudig. Pulse RC will soon introduce RC-Car bodiesĀ  for almost all classes and scales such as on-road and off-road, 1/12 scale, 1/10 scale and 1/8 scale. The first body that will become released will be for Team Durango’s new DEX210 2WD off-road buggy. A preproduction version was already successfully tested at the recent Indoor Dirt Race in Germany.

Serpent Cobra option parts

Serpent announce new option parts for the Cobra 1/8 scale off-road buggy and truggy in the form of aluminium uprights, a Cobra-Be hard anodised chassis plate and titanium shock bolts. The aluminium V2 left and right uprights are CNC-machined from aluminium, come specially coated and include Delrin bushings to use the smaller bearings of the Cobra buggy and truggy. On the Cobra-Be the original larger bearings are used. Made for the Cobra-Be in question is the new 3mm hard anodised aluminium chassis. CNC-machined from 7075-T6 aluminium and specially coated the new 3mm chassis withstands rutted tracks better. It also is slightly stiffer than the original chassis to add another tuning option. The third new part are the lower shock bolts machined from titanium and light of weight. The are useable on the whole line of Cobra kits and come as set of four.
