Pete Hastings wins BRCA 1/8th Rd1

Pete Hastings wins BRCA 1/8th Rd1

The opening round of the BRCA 1/8th scale nationals was held at Brooklands yesterday and with 43 drivers, both new and old faces, in attendance it was a very enjoyable start to the season. In Qualifying, it was Mark Green setting the pace yet again, but this year the performance advantage is very clear to see using his new Novarossi engines. The fight for second was very close and would eventually be determined by which driver could make 5 minutes run time. With this being the case, Andy North just beat Pete Hastings by 0.02 of a second. In the final, Mark Green pulled out a big lead with the chasing pack of Andy, Pete and Neil Diver also pulling out a lead over the mid field. At 13 mins, Andy North went off whilst in a strong 2nd place due to a battery pack support bracket working loose and up front Mark Green had a battery failure, all of which promoted Pete into a comfortable lead which he maintained to the finish. The 2nd spot went to reigning champion Tim Wood, with Neil Diver in third after drive belt issues close to the end prevented a 2nd place finish.

New South Wales State Gas title report

New South Wales State Gas title report

Top drivers from Australia converged towards the John Grant International Raceway in Sydney’s west for a taste of what was to come later in the year for the National titles at this venue (Moorebank Raceway). The NSWRCRCC, invested their funds into track resurfacing and with the help of their committed members, exceeded the expectations of the racers attending. A new laid, silky smooth bitumen surface was kerbed with official sky blue transitions, uniform and inviting throughout the track. The false sense of being nursed by these delightful kerbs, revealed the wicked grass that seemed to pounce onto a shell and capture it within it’s stringy mesh. It was understandable, the club recently laid the grass, rain in Sydney also added to it’s volume, it was impartial to all scales without bias.

H.A.R.D. Racing have once more expanded their current line of setup tools to include a 1/8th scale on road setup system. On conventional systems where the 2 plates connect at the top point, sometimes the main plate cannot move freely and it may cause some accuracy problems. Sold in a set of 4, for each corner, they are supplied in a handy carry case and can be assembled and disassembled with ease.

HPI Racing Formula Ten Update

HPI Racing Formula Ten Update

Looks like we got the jump on HPI racing regarding the Formula Ten chassis that we showed you photos of last night. The Japanese company have today released the first official photos of the chassis and it looks sweet. Looking like it can take a stick pack, it appears like a cross between a toy and a pro kit, with the molded front & rear wings and plastic chassis, but it has a top deck, floating rear end and has lots of space for electronics. Also unlike similar chassis’ the servo is mounted in the main part of the chassis, not forward of the drivers cockpit as is more conventional.

UPDATE: Added more body shots from Long Beach.

HPI Racing Formula 10 chassis

Spotted and snapped by one of our readers at the Radio Control Motorsport Experience, which is taking place this weekend during the Long Beach Indycar race in California, is this new Formula 10 chassis from HPI Racing. We don’t know much else other than what we see here in the pictures. Its a 2wd electric chassis and looks to be a faithful replica of the Formula 1 chassis’ from last year with the exception of the slick tires.
