Avid introduce 1.5mm carbon fibre arm inserts for the HB D413 1/10th 4WD buggy. They offer the buggy another great tuning feature by reducing the flex and twist in the arm. It is common to fine tune the response of the vehicle by placing them just on the front or rear or on both ends and thus the drop-fit inserts are available as separate front and rear sets and as combo set as well.

Aimed at 1/12th on-road racers the body is inspired by the supercars that call the esses of Silverstone and Brands Hatch home. Tekno introduce the new EB48SL Super Light 1/8th scale racing buggy kit. Based on the SCT410.3 1/10th scale short course truck the buggy is a lightweight alternative to the somewhat heavy standard 1/8th buggies and ideal for tight and twisty indoor tracks. The buggy shares around 95 percent of parts with the SCT410.3 with all of the new improvements and features put into the truck are all present in the buggy, along with a couple others specifically for the 1/8th kit. Lightened differentials, a lightened driveline, and lightened aluminium parts are standard and used throughout. 16mm bore, aluminium threaded body, long travel shocks are standard and the updated SCT410.3 suspension geometry is standard as are a split centre diff mount and the lightened chassis. The buggy is designed for the use with Pro4 motors, brushless speed controllers and 2S LiPo battery packs to make for a much lower weight compared to its heavy 4S siblings and thus improved acceleration, corner speed and jump handling.

The 2015 Russian Touring Masters was held in Agalatavo, around 10km outside of St. Petersburg. The race attracted the fastest drivers from Russia and fast Finn Viljami Kutvonen. The grip was expected to be low so Sweep 24 tyres were chosen as handout tyre for the event, which proved to be the right choice in the end. Right from the start Viljami Kutvonen topped the timing sheets followed by Georgy Chmigal in 2nd, Kirill Trofimov 3rd and Denis Zuykov 4th.

Last weekend the Galician regional championship started in Vilagarcia, on a much faster and more enjoyable layout than last year. On Sunday morning the qualifying began and Cristian Villar showed great performance from early on, taking the TQ with a lap record in the two qualifying runs, taking the TQ 9 seconds ahead of the second place driver. In the semifinal A he would dominate again and with a much higher pace he crossed the finish line with a 30 seconds gap on the next driver. In the main final Cristian again won in dominant fashion, taking the day’s win some 2 laps on front of Jose Porto.

The Western Canadian Indoor Championship Series makes one final stop in the mountains at the Tournament Capital Centre in Kamloops, British Columbia for round 7, the Mid Winter Challenge which was hosted by the TVRCRC. This club each season relocates its track and equipment to a beautiful indoor facility offering great racing and great viewing for the public. Another great show of entries from all the provinces in the series, and some joining from south of the border. Each class showed full support, and great racing action.

Shepherd have announced the re-signing of former European Champion B, multiple German Championship and multiple European Championship finalist Patrick Nähr. It will be the 5th season with Shepherd for the talented German driver who finished 9th at the last Euro A in Valencia. After joining only two ENS races last year Patrick plans to attend all of this year’s events as well as the German Nationals in Leipzig and the European Championship in Izmir. Patrick had the following to say:
I’m very happy to be a part of the Shepherd Team in 2015 after 4 very successful years with them. Since my Euro B title in 2011 the Velox V10 was constantly improved which allowed me to reach the top10 of the Euros A in the last 2 years. I’m looking forward to attending the Euros in Izmir, all ENS races and the German nationals together with the rest of team as we are always having a great time. I would like to thank Patrick Schäfer, his family and the whole Shepherd crew for this possibility.
