Chambers & Johnson win 2nd Annual Manufacturers Challenge

TLR’s Matt Chambers and Lars Johnson attended the 2nd Annual Manufacturers Challenge this past weekend with some great results. TLR’s Lars Johnson dominated qualifying and the 45 minute A main in the Pro Nitro Truggy class, while TLR’s Matt Chambers also dominated qualifying and the 45 minute Pro Buggy A main to make it a TLR sweep of the Pro classes. Lars also went on to take the win in both buggy and truggy “Dash for Cash” races held Saturday night. A special mention also goes out to TLR privateer Justin Salerno for dominating the Open Electric class by taking the TQ and win and another TLR privateer Scott Bagwin who had a great weekend winning the Open Buggy A main and taking 2nd in the Open Truggy A main.

Apolaro & Desoto Jr win Kosmic GP

Apolaro & Desoto Jr win Kosmic GP

This past weekend was the first running of the Kosmic GP in Chaplin, CT, USA. As it was run on the same track that will host this year’s US Nationals, there were many top drivers in attendance. In the sedan class it was Kosmic fuel main man and Capricorn team driver DJ Apolaro that took the top spot in qualifying and would go on to win the race by 3 laps ahead of Richie Torres in 2nd and Jamie Corrado in 3rd. In the 1/8th scale class it was Serpent driver Paolo Morganti that took the TQ spot but he hit troubles and could only finish in 4th. It was Capricorn racer Joaquin Desoto Jr that would win by two laps ahead of team mate Jari Taskila in 2nd and Joe Wright in 3rd, 4 laps further back.

Kyle McBride wins NSW State title

Durango are reporting on the 2011 New South Wales State titles for 1/8th buggy that took place this past weekend at Maitland Off-Road Radio Car Club. Kyle McBride’s Durango DNX408 hit the track for the first practice run on Thursday. Running a slightly different setup from the Neo10 race he’d attended a few weeks prior, thre made a few more tweaks to get Kyle’s Durango dialed.

E.C Kim is double Korean National Champion

E.C Kim is double Korean National Champion

The 2011 Korean KMRCA electric offroad National Championships were held last weekend for 2wd and 4wd, with this one off race deciding the title winner. In the 2wd class it was E.C Kim, driving a Yokomo that took the win from pole position ahead of Hwang Seonyeong in 2nd and Yoo Hyeonggyu in 3rd. It was a repeat performance by Kim in the 4wd class, this time taking the victory from his Yokomo/Much More team mate Si Changsu, who was top qualifier, while Kim Donggwan was 3rd.

Lee Martin takes 4wd Worlds Warmup victory

It was the turn of the 4wd class to hit the track today in Vaasa Finland, for the Electric offroad World Championship warmup race. In what was an extremely windy day, qualifying would see 4 different TQs across the 4 rounds of heats, with Ryan Maifield taking Q1, Neil Cragg Q2, Lee Martin Q3 and Jared Tebo Q4. When the points were taking from the two fastest runs it was the two British drivers Lee Martin and Neil Cragg tied on points, with Lee taking the TQ spot by virtue of a faster time. Jared Tebo would start in 3rd with Ryan Cavalieri in 4th and Hupo Honigl completing the top 5. In the 3 leg A-mains it was first blood to Associated driver Neil Cragg, with Tamiya factory driver Lee Martin taking 2nd and Durango driver Joern Neumann in 3rd. Leg 2 would see Martin take the win ahead of Associated driver Ryan Cavalieri in 2nd and Kyosho main man Jared Tebo in 3rd. The final deciding leg saw Lee Martin take the win once again to wrap up the overall with Ryan Cavalieri taking 2nd and Neil Cragg 3rd. The two Associated drivers would end tied on points so Cragg took 2nd due to his leg 1 win. A lot of the factory teams are now staying on at the track for a few more days to do more testing.
