Cragg & McGee win Stotfold Nationals

Cragg & McGee win Stotfold Nationals

oOple are reporting on last weekend’s 5th round of the BRCA 1/10th off road Nationals that took place at the Stotfold track and Saturday’s 2wd event saw Danny McGee take a convincing TQ after qualifying. Mistakes in the first leg allowed Lee Martin loose for a clear victory but Danny secured the win by taking a scrappy second leg and dominating the third leg, marching off from the pack for an easy victory. Following his win in Saturdays 2WD event, Danny McGee got off to a good start in the 4wd class on Sunday by taking the first round with his Losi XX4. It wasn’t to be however and like the previous meeting, despite taking a round of qualifying Danny didn’t manage to make the A final. Kevin Lee lined up on pole for the A final but after three scrappy legs which saw three different winners, it was Neil Cragg that took the win.

Expect a full report on oOple soon.

The weather forecast for Saturday was overcast and showers all day which made for little action on the track. All the Championship’s top drivers decided not to run, so Sunday would be a testing day for all concerned. The Committee decided to allow 2 practices sessions in heat order to allow all drivers to find a base setting and get engines tuned to suit the circuit.

Titanium Racing BD5 front spool

Titanium Racing BD5 front spool

You know a car is popular when aftermarket companies release optionals for it and it seems the Yokomo BD5 is getting popular with the second front spool release in 2 days. This new spool kit from Titanium Racing features a solid Aero-grade 7075 T6 hard anodized centre body with high impact delrin cups and 7075 T6 alloy sleeves. The unique locking system is designed and developed by Titanium Racing and does not use pins to attach the cups, reducing potential stress areas thereby improving the impact resistance of the spool cups. Maintenance is also simplified as the cups simply pull off and push on. Weighing in at only 9 grams excluding the pulley, car response is improved as is on and off power steering.

ST Racing Concepts Mini Slash & E-Revo options

ST Racing Concepts Mini Slash & E-Revo options

ST Racing Concepts have announced the release of a number of new aluminium optionals for the Traxxas Mini Slash and Mini E-Revo. Increase the strength and add great looks to your car’s suspension with these CNC Machined aluminium rocker arms.  These rocker arms not only look great, but also take out any flex from the plastic stock rocker arms. Greatly reduce the heat from your Mini Slash and Mini E-Revo’s high power brushless motor with this new large finned motor mount and motor heat sink plate. The large finned motor mount is lighter than the stock piece and machined with longer heat sink fins to receive more air-flow and reduce more heat from the motor, while the motor heat sink plate with a finned design is not only light weight, but also further reduces heat from the motor.  When the two are used in combination, the heat is greatly reduced from the motor, keeping you running stronger longer. Other new parts include CNC Machined aluminium threaded shock bodies, hex adapters and front and rear shock towers. All parts are available in anodized silver, red and blue.

Venom Universal battery plug system

Venom Universal battery plug system

Venom have announced it’s revolutionary new universal battery plug system. Today’s four most common battery plugs, Tamiya, Traxxas, Deans and EC3 lack inter-connectivity and as such, retailers must carry and hobbyists must purchase redundant battery packs to suit their different vehicles or void manufacturer’s warranties by replacing stock plugs to give all a common connector.  Venom’s new battery plug system features an easy to use, fool-proof interface that allows you to quickly convert batteries between any of the four most popular plug types. It features secure, low resistance, high current connections with the safety of reverse polarity protection. Manufactured with silver plated connectors and Zytel high temperature plastic housings, Venom Plugs deliver the power and flexibility you demand.  Beginning in September 2009, all of Venom’s most popular selling LiPo and NiMh battery packs will come standard with the Venom Plug system.  One pack, four connections, one easy solution. Worldwide Patents Pending.
