The second half of the Nitro-West-Masters 2013 will start with round four held at the Velp track in the Netherlands this coming weekend. Located close to the German boarder the Velp track is of a challenging layout and 260 metres long. It is the fifth year of this popular championship mainly run in Western Germany and it is only the second time this nitro series is going abroad of Germany. The 2013 season of the Nitro-West-Masters will kick-off at Oberhausen at the upcoming weekend (11/12 May). It is the fifth season of this nitro on-road series in Western Germany, which has become more popular year by year since it was launched in 2009. Last year a total of 106 racers have collected championship points. For the first time there will be six race meetings in 2013, one per month from May to October. Toni Gruber is the 2012 German 1/8th nitro on-road champion. In the 45 minutes finale on the demanding Dormagen track Shepherd driver Daniel Sieber and Serpent fellow Merlin Depta completed the podium of the top level class 1. In class 2 it was Torsten Mueller who brought his Shepherd home on a title-winning first spot with Martin Baumann (Serpent) and Michael Kammer (Capricorn) in second and third place. For the second time in a row the one-event German Nationals were held in Western Germany. But different to Bad Breisig with a total of 88 competitors in 2011 only 67 participants…

Mugen racer Daniel Toennessen was walking on water on his way to winning round three of the Western German Championship in the 1/10 scale nitro on-road class at Velp. Toennessen became the third winner in the third race with René Puepke winning round one at Dormagen and Michael Salven winning at Dueren. René Puepke has taken victory at round one of the Western German Championship in the 1/10 scale on-road nitro class which was held at Dormagen in the north of Cologne. Following a one-year-break Mugen racer Sebastian Buerge came on second at his comeback just in front of last year´s runner-up Andy Weyhoven with his Xray. A total of 43 competitors, 33 in 1/10 and ten in the KWC class (Kyosho World Cup) made it a promising start into the season.
