The curtain has come down on the second round of the inaugural European Touring Series in Vejle, Denmark, and it was Jilles Groskamp and Nicolai Nielsen that leave Vejle in Denmark with the main silverware. The weekend produced plenty of thrilling race action but in the end it was those that set the pace in qualifying that ruled the finals. A Tamiya is guaranteed to start the second round of the Muchmore backed ETS in pole for tomorrow’s Modified A mains, but which driver it will be will not be decided until tomorrow morning’s final qualifier. As today’s action comes to a close it is Jilles Groskamp who holds the overnight TQ but victory in the final heat today for team-mate Marc Rheinard means the German has the chance to deny the Dutchman the No.1 starting position. Jilles Groskamp will officially represent Speed Passion for the remainder of the racing season. In the pit area here at the 2nd round of the Much More backed ETS, the top International Tamiya driver confirmed to us that he has agreed a deal with Speed Passion to supply him with motors for the rest of the year. Jilles has run the Hong Kong made motors since the beginning of the season but only inked a deal at the TITC in Thailand 2 weeks ago that will also see the Dutch driver race Speed Passion at this year’s World Championships….

The organisers of next weekends second round of the Much More backed European Touring Series are delighted to confirm that Tamiya factory driver Jilles Groskamp will be present at the event. Taking place in Vejle, Denmark, the race will also be attended by fellow Tamiya team drivers Marc Rheinard and Viktor Wilck as well as Associated team driver Joel Myrberg and lots of other top quality racers. We are currently running about half a day late with our reports from the Winternats due to the time difference, with Tuesday’s qualifying now underway here is the practice report from Monday. Again the weather was very nice, at least for us Europeans, and in the 1/8th scale it seems that Kyosho racer Chris Tosolini is setting the pace with young Vincent Jackson also very quick as is Italian veteran Marco Vanni. This years annual Winternats held at the Ft Myers track in Florida, is currently underway with a lot of the racers arriving on Sunday before the week of the event to get some practice in on this extremely tight and unforgiving track. In a blistering run that saw him make the fastest qualifying run of the day, a 19 lap run in 5 minutes 03.03, Finland’s Teemu Leino has snatched TQ in round 5 to start from pole position in tomorrows final. Jilles Groskamp has made the perfect start to his new tenure at Tamiya by setting the quickest time in round 1 of the 2008 DHI Cup, giving him maximum points for the round with 3 of the 5 to count. Heading into Heat 21, the final heat of the round, it was Hot Bodies racer Andy Moore that had taken the TQ spot over from Shin Adachi, who had only taken the spot in the previous heat.
