D’hondt & Renaux win Benelux Champs

Last weekend at the Roeselare track in Belgium saw the 2007 Benelux Championships take place for 1/8th and 1/10th scale classes. The event is open to drivers from within the Benelux – Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg, and despite the predicted bad weather a lot of top drivers turned up for the event. Qualifying took place on Saturday in damp conditions and in the 1/8th scale class it was Steven Cuypers that claimed the pole position, heading a Serpent 1-2-3 with John Ermen in 2nd and Robin D’hondt in 3rd. Maarten van Lierop wins Rd3 of Dutch 200mm Nationals

This weekend saw the rain affected 3rd round of the Dutch National Championship for 1/10th 200mm take place at the small technical Gouda track in the center of the country. The first rounds of qualifying saw a wet track for all the racers but this cleared up and allowed some quick times to be set, the quickest of which being set by round 1 winner Jilles Groskamp with his Xray NT1. Teemu Leino wins Euros Warm up race

…in the Sunday’s finals and won all three rounds. He showed not only the car’s performance but also his driving skills especially in the first final when he tried a not-so-good additive and was sliding around the track for the first 3 laps; however, he did not give anyone a chance to pass him and after few laps he was able to pull away. Juho Levanen takes LRP Masters crown

Last weekend saw the last major indoor race of the year, the 2007 LRP Masters, run in Eppelheim, Germany with the event attracting a huge number of quality drivers from around the world meaning the racing was very close and very tough. The event was TQ’d by Associated / LRP driver Juho Levanen with Tamiya driver Victor Wilck in 2nd and Dutch Xray driver Jilles Groskamp in 3rd. Bart Wubben wins Rd1 of Dutch EP Nats

Xray are reporting on their site about the first round of the Dutch EP National championships that took place last weekend on the famous MACH circuit in Heemstede, near Amsterdam. With Jilles Groskamp in Slovakia preparting for this weekends LRP Masters, it left the door open to reigning Dutch Champion Bart Wubben to shine which he did by taking the TQ spot. In the race Bart was once more able to show his skills by taking the win for Xray ahead of Kyosho racer Stefan Jansen in 2nd with Vasco Christiaanse taking 3rd with his Schumacher. Jilles Groskamp wins Rd1 of Dutch 200mm Nationals

Today saw the first round of the Dutch 1/0th 200mm Nationals held at the Gronignen track in the north of Holland. In qualifying it was Xray driver Jilles Groskamp that took the TQ spot followed by Serpent racer Jordy Blok in 2nd with Kyosho racer Daan Jacobs claiming the 3rd qualifying spot. In the race itself, Jordy Blok was the first retirement after 10 minutes which left Jilles in a clear lead but he immediately suffered from a 2nd gear failure which meant he only had 1st gear for the rest of the final. Andy Moore wins the 2007 TITC

…the second final Andy put it all right and despite some mechanical issues with his car lead from start to finish to take the leg win ahead of Hupo Hoenigl in 2nd and Jilles Groskamp for Xray in 3rd. Atsushi Hara had been in 2nd position until a cooling fan failure put and end to his run with little over a minute left, leg 1 winner Voelker had similar bad luck having inherited the 2nd position after Hara’s exit came into contact with Pumpler dropping both drivers back.
