Mibosport Cup Rd1 – Report

The 2019/20 season of the popular Mibosport Cup kicked off in Hrotovice, Czech Republic last weekend. The event saw about 200 entries from the Czech Republic and surrounding countries with prominent guests being Schumacher’s Michal Orlowski and Turkish champion, Xray’s Mustafa Alp. Both the on-road and off-road track were laid out with a new high traction carpet, allowing the cars to go fast from the get go. Also the qualifying received a small update with a new points format being used over the previous FTD format. The new season also brought the addition of two new classes in the form of FWD Touring and GT Stock 17.5T. The latter targets first and foremost hobby pilots due to being slower than the current 17.5T Touring category. In addition the GT bodies make for more visual impact and both classes are great replacements for the now scrubbed pan car classes that suffered shrinking driver fields while also messing with the traction due to their foam tyres.

X-Grip STX.6 & T4 Dynamic Body Lever

European X-Grip distributor Mikimodel has introduced the new dynamic body lever, an option part for WRC STX.6 and Xray T4 touring cars that attaches to the car’s suspension and that helps to make body movement independent from chassis movement. The body lever is 3-D-printed from high-quality material and it was designed to attach between the suspension C-hub and upper camber link ball. A knurled nut adjusts the distance between the platform and the body shell so the body is resting on the platform, ensuring the front body height and ground clearance maintains constant even under chassis rolling and suspension compression. It is required to allow the front of the body to float on the body mounts which can be achieved by simply attaching the retaining body clip one or two positions higher than usual. The part weighs in at only 1.3g, meaning virtually no additional unsprung masses.
