Fenix March 240 6-wheel formula body shell

Fenix Racing have released first prototype images of their forthcoming new March 240 6-wheel formula body shell. The full-scale car was developed in the crazy 1970’s that also brought the Tyrell P34 6-wheeler, however the March 240 was never used in a Formula 1 race as the ambitions project, that promised less aerodynamic drag and better traction thanks to its rear 4WD drive drivetrain, was too much to chew for a small team like March. Nevertheless it gained some popularity and the 4WD package later made it into Roy Lane’s successful hillclimb March 771. As for the 1/10th scale replica, Fenix is currently finalising its design and the body will hit the stores in kit form very soon.

Muchmore Fleta ZX8 Evolution 1/8th scale BL motor

Coming from Muchmore is their new Fleta ZX8 Evolution electric brushless motor for 1/8th scale applications. Utilising the highly machined Flow-Max Ver.II aluminium can, the motor offers greatly improved cooling efficiency, keeping its operation temperatures as low as possible even in demanding applications and extreme heat conditions. Dual sensor ports allow for easier wire routing and less chances of damaging the sensor wire near rotating drivetrain parts while the 4-pole, 8-magnet staggered-pole rotor reduces low-RPM cogging while offering a very low torque pulse. The motor is built using high RPM super low friction bearings and the rotor is equipped with an innovative hall sensor system that ensures ultra-precise throttle control. Tim Wood wins at British Open

The annual British Open Championship took place over the UK bank holiday weekend at the Halifax racetrack in the north of England. Glorious sunny weather for 3 days greeted 87 drivers across the 1/8th and 1/10th IC Track classes. Hot weather made 5-minute qualifying runs difficult for the top heat with many drivers running out of fuel on numerous occasions. Andrew Hastings took the TQ, having successfully managed the full 5 mins without stopping. Finals took place on Monday. The 1/8th main final saw a 7-car train at the start. Andy was battling Karl at the front whilst Tim Wood was working his way through the pack. After seven minutes Tim took the lead which was never relinquished. A smooth drive saw Tim take another convincing victory. Karl Dransfield finished 2nd with Andy North taking the final podium position after a tight battle with John Carr who finished 4th. With this victory, Tim has not only won the first British Open title for his chassis sponsor. With 601 points from six races, Tim has also done the trick of taking the title of the BRCA 8th Circuit National Champion second time in a row.
