Myron Kinnard TQs & wins at Bash at the Beach

The 2018 Bash at the Beach DAV charity event was hosted by 386 RC Raceway inside the Sunshine mall in Daytona. By far the largest class of the weekend was USVTA with some of the top Florida and Carolina VTA drivers being on hand including a ROAR VTA Champ as well. Myron Kinnard would overall TQ the class by winning the last chance qualifier with a 99 percent consistency and a 28-lapper to line up in 1st for the 8-minute A-main. Sitting in the TQ spot all Myron had to do was make it into turn 1 and 2. With eight long minutes anything can happen, but with a positive mind and steady hand Kinnard was able to go tone to tone, and take home the TQ and Championship.

Xray RX8E electric conversion set

Xray have introduced their all-new RX8E electric conversion kit for the RX8 1/8th on-road car. The kit allows to swap power trains in a matter of minutes by simply replacing the radio tray and rear layshaft bulkhead. The kit was developed for the use with two 2S Shorty LiPo packs, a standard-size 1/8th scale electric brushless motor and a compact 4S LiPo compatible speed controller and it includes a new 2.5mm carbon fibre radio plate, an alloy motor mount, spur gear and pinion adapters as well as a new centre shaft and various small parts. Thanks to the included adapters the drivetrain utilises the main gears and pinions of the RX8 nitro car meaning there is no need to buy those parts extra, making gear ratio adjustments a breeze. The conversion kit is usable with the RX8’18 and also the older specification ’17 and ’16 cars and it will hit stores very soon.

Infinity IF15 1/10 200mm nitro on-road kit

Following two years of on-track development, Infinity has finalised their first 1/10th 200mm nitro on-road kit – the IF15. Extensively tested by the 1/8th Onroad World Champion’s team drivers, the new kit has already shown winning form. In the 2018 Euro Nitro Series, Jilles Groskamp took the car to victory at the opening round and secured the TQ at round 2. The concept for the design of the IF15 was to have the lowest possible centre of gravity and, like its big brother the IF18, create a car that facilitates easy maintenance. As a result of its low centre of gravity, the IF15 provides exceptional steering feeling. The easy access bulkheads make exchanging of differentials and belts easy and reduces the time needed to find the best set-up. This is a feature of the car that is particularly beneficial when time is limited. The kit comes supplied with suspension bushes with various roll centre positions, and three kinds of front and four kinds of rear anti-roll bars meaning the IF15 can easily be tuned to any track.

Tim Wood wins BRCA 1/8th Track Nats Rd5

Round 5 of the BRCA 1/8th Track National Championship was held at the Mendip track last weekend. In 1/8th Nitro On-road and after the finals had to be restarted due to an accident involving personal injury, Tim Wood carefully started into the main final. Since no tyre change was planned on his Shepherd car, but his opponent, Serpent’s Alex Thurston went for a tyre change, the outcome of the race should be decided in the late stage of the race. But due to a gearbox damage Alex lost valuable time so Tim was able to drive home a safe victory. The second place went to Alex, the final podium spot went to Clive Connolly. Neal King (Shepherd) just missed the podium crossing the finishing line in 4th position.
