RCMC Singapore Nationals Rd3 – Report

In preparation for the forthcoming Singapore International Nitro Grand Prix on September 15th and 16th, a great turnout was had at the RCMCSG East Coast Race Track for the recent third National round, dubbed the SINGP Warm-Up Race. From a World Championship winning team and drivers rocking up in full force, to people just getting started in the world of Nitro RC racing alongside local Singaporean veterans, there was something for everyone at this event. With Singapore celebrating its 53rd Anniversary this week, it was fitting to have put on such a show. However, birthday or no birthday, Singapore likes to set a challenge. With rain interrupting both round 1 and round 2 qualifying causing the grip to change dramatically as well as temperature swings playing havoc with engine settings, drivers and mechanics had to be on point to secure a direct place in the A-main.

Over the last year, the club has put a lot of work in and extended the track, which has greatly increased it in both size and lap times. The weather was perfect sunshine and it lasted all weekend. This would probe a real test for both drivers and equipment with ever changing track conditions catching a few drivers out. The club had a near full entry for race day and most of those drivers were practicing on Saturday with seven timed runs for all classes in heat order. The usual three classes were running, 17.5 Blinky, 13.5 Open and Formula who run alongside the Clubman’s Championship but are competing for the National Title.

Think RC MTC1.e drivetrain & chassis conversion kits

Think RC have announced the release of two conversion kits for the Mugen Seiki MTC1 touring car. The first kit is a 38T pulley conversion to improve the drivetrain efficiency of the car. It’s well known that bigger drive pulleys helps to increase the drivetrain efficiency, by reducing the tension the belts can run under without experiencing skipping. For stock classes this is especially important, as it helps to improve top speed. Longer front and rear belts are also provided to work with the larger pulleys. The kit also includes 1mm bulkhead spacers to lift the diffs, which offers improved corner speed over the kit positions. Finally, 1mm lower shock towers are also included. The lower height maintains current shock positions, and have been revised to provide the required clearance for the 38T pulleys. The rear tower also has an update shape for improved stiffness, providing more on-power stability.

Vigor BD8-2018 carbon chassis, top deck & shock towers

Made for Yokomo’s popular BD8-2018 touring car are Vigor RC’s new carbon fibre main chassis, top deck and shock towers.
