Antros Lemesianos wins Cyprian buggy champs Rd3

Last weekend the 3rd round of the Cyprian nitro buggy championship was held at the Navounita track in Pafos. Last year’s champion, Savvakis Milikouris (Xray) managed to take an easy TQ but in the final Milikouris made a mistake and his teammate Antros Lemesianos took the lead. With a perfect and error-free driving he managed to take the win in front of Sotiris Taifas (Xray) who took the second place in front of Savvakis Milikouris. The 2013 championship will be decided at the next and final round, at the moment both Savvakis Milikouris and Antros Lemesianos are leading the championship.

Kyosho ZX-6 – Teaser photos

Following a first image of Kyosho’s forthcoming ZX-6 4WD electric buggy that was accidentally issued by Kyosho’s Jared Tebo a couple of weeks ago more official teaser shots are available now. Kyosho Europe released a handful of photos showing Elliott Boots’ car that will make an appearance at this week’s World Championships. The buggy in question heavily differs from the current ZX-5 and sports all new front and rear gearboxes as well as corresponding shock towers possibly also new front steering knuckles and carriers. Also new is the aluminium chassis that replaces the current plastic tub part and the eagle eyed may also spot what appears to be the hot ticket for all upcoming 4WD buggies: a battery mount for 2S shorty LiPo battery packs. The ZX-6 is a bit of a speciality though as the motor is located in front part of the chassis while dedicated ‘shorty only’ buggies have it sitting opposite of the battery. As we are unsure if Elliott’s ZX-6 is a production ready buggy, so there may be some changes for the shop-going kit though. We will try and have additional images and more information available on the ZX-6 soon. Reno Savoya victorious at French buggy nats

The fifth and final round of the French nitro buggy nationals took place at the Chanu track in the north-western part of France. The track is often used by large scale buggies so it was difficult for the drivers to pull issue-free and consistent laps in the rough conditions. The final had Kyosho’s Jerome Aigoin and Xray’s Reno Savoya battling for the lead. Both drivers swapped positions several times until Reno was able to open a gab on Jerome about 15 minutes into the 45 minute final. In the second half of the main Reno’s buggy suffered a flame out so he lost the lead to Jerome but with five minutes to go the Xray driver was able to reduce the gab by 12 seconds. Then disaster stoke for Kyosho driver Aigoin as 3 minutes before the end Jerome had to retire handing Reno the win in front of Lorenzo Crolla and Jerome Aigion.

Kerswell wins at Chesterfield Summer Shootout Rd4

This weekend saw the 4th and final round of the Chesterfield Summer Shootout Championship, probably the most competitive 12th scale summer championship in the UK with many of the top national drivers competing.
With the national championship starting next month almost all of the UK’s top drivers were in attendance to do some final pre-national testing. After 4 rounds of qualifying Chris Kerswell ended up in pole position, over a lap up on 2nd place, David Spashett. Moving into the final it was clear David would try to pass on the first few laps to try to prevent a gap appearing. As it unfolded he couldn’t get close enough to make a move and that allowed Chris to pull away and maintain a gap of approximately half a lap to second place. At the end Chris won the A main in front of Daniel Holmes and Mark Stiles. David Spashett came in fourth with Luke Burley completing the top 5.

Mario Spiniello wins 1st Trophy Sempre al Max

The 1st Trophy Sempre al Max, in memory of Massimo Renzi, was held at the Cassino track. David Loppini took TQ with Mario Spiniello starting into the final from second position. The first minutes of the final had a great battle between Loppini, Spiniello and D’angelo but once Spiniello took the lead from Loppini he took off and never looked back. At the end he won the race in front of Giuseppe D’angelo and Generoso Mazza who grabbed the last remaining podium spot.

Scherer & Wopfner win at Alpencup Rd5

The fifth round of the Alpencup took place at the Kematen track in Tirol. In the 1/8th class Rudi Scherer took the win in front of Serpent team mate Wopfner who fall back to the 10th place at the start of the final but managed to come back thanks to an amazing run. In the 1/10th 200mm class Wofner did even better by taking the win and expanding his lead in the overall ranking. Second place went to Christian Wuntschek with Manuel Dellacher completing the podium.

Fransson & Hard win at Swedish Cup

The final round of the Swedish nitro on-road cup took place in Gothenburg at the famous Väst-8 track. It looks like this was the last race at this track, most likely it will be removed next year but the club is busy finding an alternative location for the track. As for the race, due to the risk of rain on Sunday it was decided to hold the qualifying and finals on Saturday making it a one day event which worked out very well. After qualifying the top 4 of the 1/8th class saw Marcus Lindner (Shepherd) in front of Mikael Fransson (Serpent), Lars Haugen (Xray) and Karl Ullenius (Xray). In 1/10th 200mm Markus Hellquist took TQ in front of Per-Ola Hard (Serpent), Andreas Husman (Mugen) and Martin Åberg (Serpent).

Nikola Krustev wins ARCMBG championship

Last weekend the final round of the Bulgarian 1/8th off-road championship took place. Serpent driver Nikola Krustev started the 30 minute final from second position on the grid but was able to take the lead in the first corner. From there he never looked back to take the win one lap ahead of Mario Vutow with Dimitir Karamfilov taking the final podium position another lap down. The win also handed Nikola the 2013 ARCMBG championship title.
