Kyosho release Nascar Mini-Z

Kyosho release Nascar Mini-Z

Kyosho have announced the release of their latest range of cars in their ultra successful Mini-Z line of 1/24th scale racers. Nascar is of course immensely popular Stateside, and Kyosho have realised that it would be a clever decision to make officially licensed cars to sell to the fans of this class of racing. As always the attention to detail and scale looks are what makes the mini-z cars stand out and these oval racers are no different.

NASCAR, the most popular racing series in the US, has teamed up with Kyosho to produce the only hobby-grade, officially licensed NASCAR RC cars available in the world. The Kyosho team visited the racing development facilities of many of the top NASCAR racing teams, and even attended NASCAR events, all in an effort to ensure that the bodies include exceptional detail that is unmatched in accuracy and scale.

Yokomo release new small scale ESC

Yokomo SCR18M

Yokomo have announced the release of a new electronic speed controller suitable for the increasingly popular smaller classes of racing cars, anything from 1/20th – 1/16th scale. Called the SCR18M this lightweight unit is recommended for use with 4-6 cells (4.8V to 7.2V) and at only 20 x 26 x 16mm is also one tiny speedo and should therfore cause no headaches when trying to find a place to mount it in your car.

Xray T2’007 conversions sets

Xray T2'007 conversions sets

Xray have officially released 2 new conversion sets to enable T2 and T2R users to upgrade their chassis’ to the US or EU T2’007 specifications. The conversion sets are pretty large and seem to replace nearly 80% of the car, so it seems strange to release such a set. Our advice would be to just buy a new car.

Schumacher Mi3 190mm touring car

Schumacher Mi3

Yet more new touring cars, this time from British manufacturer Schumacher who are working hard on their new 190mm touring car. The Mi3 has been doing the rounds at various tracks in prototype stage in order to test its response to various track conditions and of course when you go racing your picture will get taken. Little is known except what one can see in the image and that is that it’s dual belt drive as one would expect from a modern touring car, it seems to be extremely low with the center axles mounted higher than the blocks and the most noticeable thing is how narrow the chassis plate is.

UPDATE: You can view 3 more large images of the car here, here and here.

Schumacher weren’t so happy that photos of their new baby were put on RC Tech and so posted this reply… content

Robitronic release the Avid 190mm touring car

Robitronic Avid

Robitronic, the German RC manufacturer, has just released its new 190mm electric powered touring car. Called the Avid, we first saw this car at the GP Carpet World Cup and it looked pretty promising from the pictures and the production version is looking pretty nice too with lots of red anodized aluminum throughout but of course looks aren’t everything.

So the Avid is designed for maximum performance, easy handling and a lot of new features in the touring car sector. The high-efficiency drive train with extra large belt pulleys, super strong and smooth aluminium differentials and a improved suspension/steering-geometry for maximum corner speed makes this car ready for competition.

You can read more details and view more images of the Avid here.

BMI DB12 close to leaving prototype stage

BMI DB12

The prototype 1/12th scale car from BMI, the DB12, is nearing the final stages of its prototype phase and if everything goes according to plan in its final test it should be going into production in the very near future. I will let the designer himself give you the low down on this new chassis.

The new prototype will have newly redesigned pods and slightly altered suspension. The new rear suspension has proved itself to give the progressive spring tension of a T bar when twisted and only relies on the center shock for compression. Another high point of this car is its battery placement. It is adjustable and offers a more rearward battery position of any car on the market for the most amount of steering possible and allows you to move them forward also for a more toned down feel. I am working with IRS with this kit and will be including their new nickle teflon coated shock, axle, battery locator plates and 7075 aluminum hard coated front and rear pivot balls. I will be including boca bearings in the kit also.

The Tamiya MSXX

Tamiya MSXX

The Tamiya MSXX was shown for the first time at the Tamiya World Cup event held last month and it has been talked about a lot since. What we know is that it’s basically the same as the Rheinard edition but it it has been downgraded to have dual one-way units, steel screws and steel axles to make it more affordable. If you didnt know already, now you do.

Well the title pretty much sums up were this story is going. The MY07 Medusa EX from Tech Racing, that we wrote about at the start of November and that only went on sale 3 weeks ago, is now available in a purple anodised version too. The original run of this car was available in both pink and blue so you have until the day after Christmas, when it becomes available, to make up your mind on which of the 3 versions you want.
