Associated TC5 prototype showing great potential

Associated TC5 prototype - Juho Levanen & Craig Drescher

CML Distribution have a report on their site updating us on the progress of the Team Associated TC5 prototype. This belt drive touring car has been doing the rounds for a while now and it all seems to be paying off with Juho Levanen and Craig Drescher taking 3rd and 4th respectively in last weekends TC Carpet World Cup.

In the early practice run on Thursday and Friday both Associated cars were quickly dialed in to the fast but technical track at the CRF facility, using Novak brushless power Craig’s car looked punchy with good straight line speed, still in its development stage the new car delighted Craig and caused a great deal on interest in the pit area.

You can read the full report here.

Robitronic Avid

At this weekends TC Carpet World Cup, German firm Robitronic have one of their new 190mm touring car protoypes present at the races. Named the Avid, this belt drive car belongs to Swiss Robitronic driver Mischa Kroos who was up at the sharp end of the Open Class at this event. The car looks nice with some nice lines and this particular car sports an aluminium C-Hub system but i dont know if thats a proto part, optional or standard feature.

You can check out more images from the car here.

TOP Scythe Touring Car

Top Scythe Touring Car

The TOP Scythe touring car has been around for a while already, but mostly in Asia and in only small numbers in Europe and the US. Its seems like a pretty smart looking car with some nice aluminium and carbon work and it seems to work too having won this years Chinese Nationals. The car shown above is belonging to Keith Anderton who is racing it at this weekends GP Carpet World Cup event, and as you can see Keith went for the red version but it’s also available in Gold too which you can see here.

You can view more pictures of Keiths Scythe here.

Robitronic Scalpel 1/18th scale in action

Robitronic Scalpel

We first saw the great looking Scalpel 1/18th scale electric pan car from Robitronic at the iHobby show in Chicago in October. I hadn’t seen one driving around a track before, until Robitronic posted a video on their site showing the car tearing around a test track in Austria equipped with a brushless 8000kV System and 4 cell GP1300 battery pack. Its pretty damn fast and to drive it, it appears you would need very good eyesight.

Check out the video here.

Xray to release 1/10th 200mm & 1/12th Pan car!

Xray Rumours

Rumours abound this time of year with manufacturers nearing their final preparations of new products for the upcoming season. Mostly rumours leak out in the form of sightings at private test sessions or team drivers informing friends or simply a case of wishful thinking. In this instance the rumours regarding Xray’s imminent release of a 1/10th 200mm gas car and 1/12th pan car has come from a number of sources and therefore I believe it to be fact.

Corally RDX Phi, the beast has a name

Corally RDX Phi

A while back we brought you shots of the new RDX electric touring car prototype from Dutch manufacturer Corally. The car did very well at the Team Orion Speed Weekend and finished first and second at the recent Team Orion Cup in France (see pic above). Well it seems that the new car doesn’t like being called plain old prototype so it looked into the dictionary for a while and named itself……the RDX Phi. About as universally difficult to say as when Prince called himself symbol, the new Φ is actually pronounced ‘Phi’, so really rolls of the tongue then. The official slant on the name is “RDX-PHI :: THE INFINITE #1”, whether it keeps this name when it hits production we dont know but one thing is sure that whatever its going to be called its going to be pretty hard to beat never mind pronounce.

Thanks to syndr0me for the heads up.
