Losi 8ight of Adam Drake

Losi 8ight of Adam Drake

With the Losi team finished all their pre event testing for next week’s World Championships in Thailand, Adam Drake sent us these photos of his race ready 8ight chassis. An interesting feature of the car is the strengthened chassis plate which sports steel tips set flush into the front and rear ends of the chassis to protect it from the highly abrasive and damaging Pattaya track. By only replacing the extremities of the chassis plate, the additional weight is kept to a minimum, but durability is increased dramatically.

Dirtz Dialed Partz X-Factory Torx screw kit

Dirtz Dialed Partz X-Factory Torx screw kit

Brian Kinwald and X Factory have released the newest addition to the Dirtz Dialed Partz line, a torx screw kit to fit the X-6 Squared, X-60, and SCX-60. Torx screws are much less likely to strip out and the drivers don’t wear as much either. In some situations, this allows more torque to be applied than with a regular hex head and in other applications, especially on flat-heads coming up from under the chassis, torx screws are easier to remove and rarely strip. The new kit contains 50 total 4-40 torx head screws, the correct size for almost every screw used on the X-6 Squared, a few sizes are not available from the supplier. Another great thing about torx screws is that cap head and flat head use the same driver, T-10. Therefore, you can do most work on the car with just one driver, a real convenience in a crowed pit space.

Losi Ultra Digits G2 Pink compound

Losi Ultra Digits G2 Pink compound

Losi have released their 1/8 Ultra Digits G2 buggy tires in pink compound, ideal for indoor racing on high-traction or tacky surfaces. The tire itself features a multi-level clustered pin design that has the pins grouped very closely providing incredible traction on hard packed tracks. The closeness of the pins enable the tire to have minimal lug flex which provides superior grip. The tall pins are supported by a base pin which aids in support. Also the closeness of the pins enables the tire to easily survive hour long mains on high bite surfaces.

Hara testing new shell for Hot Bodies D8

Hara testing new shell for Hot Bodies D8

Reigning 1/8th scale World Champion Atsushi Hara has been seen testing a new cab forward bodyshell (click image for larger version) for the Hot Bodies D8. Using it to TQ the recent Japanese Nationals, this type of design would offer faster steering response as well as better cooling and more airflow to the rear wing, while rear winglets add extra downforce to the back end of the car. A unique feature is what looks like a roll over hoop integrated into the body, just forward of the cooling head, which would help protect the engine in the event of a crash, something that can easily happen at a punishing high speed track like the one in Pattaya for next week’s World Championships. We have contacted Atsushi for more information but most likely will find out more this weekend when we arrive in Thailand.

JQ Products – THE Video

[vimeo]http://vimeo.com/16373961[/vimeo]

JQ Products have released their first video production highlighting some of the fun they had during the summer testing and developing THE Car.

This is our first attempt at an RC Video, and we drew inspiration from the Motocross videos that we like to watch. The onboard stuff was specially fun to do, and a lot of imagination was needed in order to get the right shots without vibration and with the right focus. I think it turned out great, and Tomi Jermalainen who pretty much did everything from finding the equipment needed, to filming to editing really did an outstanding job. And remember, he is just a racer and filming and editing is just his other hobby.
