Czech Electric Off-road Nationals Rd2 – Report

The second round of the Czech 1/10th Electric Off-road Nationals was held at the Horni Jeleni track recently. The weekend kicked off a bit delayed due to heavy rain on Saturday morning, however the track was race-ready soon so things could get underway as planned. In 2WD Buggy, it was Team Associated driver Ales Bidovsky who topped the first two qualifying rounds to secure the overall TQ. Max Götzl (Xray) took the third round with the fastest time of the day, but started 2nd on the A-main grid, while Michal Binder (Xray) was sitting in 3rd. Ales then also took the win in A1 as Max made some small mistakes, but Götzl came back with the win in A2, as Ales made a lot of mistakes, so it was all to decide in A3. Max was able to take the lead on the second lap and was able to hold it until the last one, but he made a mistake which cost him the win. Stafford & McGee win at BRCA EP Buggy Rd3

Round 3 of the BRCA 1/10th Off-road Nationals was held at Eden Park Raceway in the south-east of the UK this past weekend. On Saturday the 2WD class commenced and the weather was wet with drying conditions but with some extra rain showers over the day kept the conditions interesting with some drivers round being affected.
Schumacher driver Ellis Stafford qualified 2nd behind Team Associated driver Neil Cragg. The 3-legged A-final was hard fought, with Ellis fighting to get past Neil. With matching scores overall but with a 2nd place and a faster winning final time gave Ellis the win he deserved. Nathan Ralls (Xray) had to settle for 3rd overall. Sunday was a much brighter day with sunny spells and only a very brief shower. Ellis Stafford took TQ this time with Danny Mcgee close behind in 2nd spot. The finals were hard fought by all with an early mistake from Ellis Stafford left Danny in 2nd but Neil Cragg was able to get past Danny and take the win in the first leg. In leg 2 Ellis, Danny and Neil had a battle, with Danny getting into the lead but after a retirement from Danny this left it to Ellis to take the win with Ed Kerry getting 2nd. The last leg meant that four cars could win it, Ellis unfortunately made an early mistake dropping down the field which meant Danny Mcgee had a lot of pressure from Neil Cragg for a majority of the race but defended superbly until Neil made a few mistakes which allowed Tom Cockerill to catch up and take the second spot. With the race over and with a win and a second from Danny he took the win and his first 4WD in his racing career as Neil Cragg and Ed Kerry completed the podium.

Alabama Manufacturers Shootout 10.0 – Report

The annual Alabama Manufacturers Shootout was held in Cullman, Alabama last weekend. Widely known by the acronym, AMS, is an indoor race that’s like no other due to the smooth surface and 1/10th clay like grip. With nationals just around the corner, the AMS10 was a perfect warm-up race for many traveling pros and great racers alike. The split practice schedule was probably the most talked about topic of the week as the split practices allowed some drivers to practice on Thursday while the remaining group was able to get on the track late Thursday and half of Friday. There are definitely positives to doing either, but most of the pros opted to run the 2nd practice that allowed them to tune for more race-like conditions. One qualifier ran on Friday evening with the final two qualifiers on Saturday followed by lower mains to decide bump ups. Ten cars went directly in the main while five cars bumped from the lower mains which made racing purposeful and exciting up and down the field.
