Joni Skidmore teams up with Yokomo

Yokomo have announced the signing of UK’s Joni Skidmore to their electric off-road team. The young man will race the company’s YZ-2 and YZ-4 buggies in the country’s major series and also at select EOS events and he has the following to say about the deal:

I would like to thank Yokomo, Yokomo Europe and MB Models for giving me the opportunity to race the superb YZ-2 and YZ-4 electric buggies. I am looking forward to hitting the track this winter and hope to succeed at the UK’s premier race series and some EOS events. Once again I would like to thank all my sponsors for helping me further my RC career.

Xray Racing Series Netherlands – Announcement

The Model Indoor Oss Arena will hold a round of the Xray Racing Series Netherlands on the 17th and 18th of December. The race will be held in 2WD and 4WD off-road classes with more event information available here while sign-up can be done here.

Kostas Katsadonis successful at Tour of Champions

The second Tour of Champions race was recently held at the newly built RC Pylaros track in Kefalonia, Greece. In the 60-minute Nitro Buggy main final, Kostas Katsadonis (Xray) came out fastest from his brother Harris Katsadonis, who set the TQ and also the fastest lap. Mugen racer Thanos Pagonis ended the race on the final podium spot from Christofer Pliatsikas (Mugen) and Andreas Stellatos (SWorks).

Risser & Valter win at Halloween Race

The annual Halloween Race was held near Paris, France. Xray’s Nico Risser would set TQs in both the 2WD and 4WD Buggy classes and he would also walk away with the win after the 2WD A-mains to leave Stephane Deroche (Team Associated) and Red Obkos (Team Associated) behind in second and third respectively. In the 4WD class Nico had to settle for second after the mains, behind Xray teammate Romain Valter and in front of TLR driver Julien Formentin.

Alexander Landen successful at Winter Cup Rd1

The opening round of the Winter Cup was held at the HB Orion track in the small town of Kallinge, Sweden. The 4WD Buggy qualifying was won by young Malin Karlsen who took a convincing TQ from Jessica Palsson and Alexander Landen, the latter two having nice battles in the qualifiers with the runner-up spot narrowly going to Jessica. These three plus fourth placed Johan Balsberg would be in the mix for the overall win and the opening A-main would start quite uneventful with Jessica having a bobble on the first lap, allowing Alexander by. Up front Malin would stretch the lead and she would take the win with a comfortable margin from Alexander and Jessica.

Off-road Xray Racing Series Australia – Announcement

Xray have announced that the off-road portion of the Xray Racing Series Australia will be held on the weekend of the 11th of December at Castle Hill Off Road RC Club. Classes run are 2WD and 4WD Modified, 2WD and 4WD Stock as well as 2WD Junior Stock, SCT and Stadium Truck. Open practice will be held on Saturday with the qualifier and finals run on Sunday. Shay Brand successful at Halloween Havoc Retro Race

This past weekend Loganville RC Speedway hosted the Halloween Havoc Retro Race. Instead of IFMAR style qualifying, the organizers went back to the old school gate starts. It was really fun to experience the gate starts again, and really made for some exciting qualifiers. There were also no Pro and Sportsman classes, it was just Buggy and Truggy with the event attracting around 85 entries. In the Buggy class and after some crazy qualifying, Team Associated’s Shay Brand took the TQ. In the main, Shay was able to get a pretty good start, but got shuffled around a little after a few turns. He was able to find his way back to the front though and never looked back to take the overall win for the race.

Jesper Rasmussen wins at Winter Cup opener

Jesper Rasmussen wins at Winter Cup

The opening round of the Winter Cup series was held at the David Ronnefalk owned HB Orion Racetrack. Jesper Rasmussen got off to a good start already in practice in which he came out fastest from David Ronnefalk and Malin Karlsen. In the qualifiers the battle was on between newly crowned 1/8th Nitro Buggy World Champion, David Ronnefalk and Jesper Rasmussen. The opening qualifier saw mistakes of both drivers with David still being able to take the top spot from Jesper in second and Frederik in third. Q2 then had Jesper laying down a flawless run to take the TQ from Malin and David and Jesper was also unstoppable in Q3, taking the round TQ from Jessica and Frederik. The final qualifier again saw Jesper excel, this time in front of David and Niclas.
