David Ronnefalk takes eBuggy at Neo 16

David Ronnefalk takes eBuggy at Neo 16

Running alongside Nitro Buggy at last weekend’s Neo race, the eBuggy class was also stacked with quality. Qualifying saw Ryan Lutz take the TQ spot ahead of Team Orion’s Ryan Cavalieri in 2nd and David Ronnefalk 3rd. The single 10-minute A-Main Event would be run on Monday afternoon. With the grid set and the tone sounding, it was Tekno’s Ryan Lutz who would lead the field around for lap #1. Cavalieri & Ronnefalk would work together and keep pace with Lutz. Ronnefalk was able to make it by Cavalieri in the first couple laps and then quickly caught up to Lutz. Ronnefalk would then make a pass for the lead a few laps later and then begin putting in fast laps to try an pull away from the field. Ronnefalk would go onto take the convincing win and the Neo16 1/8 Electric Buggy Championship! Cavalieri put in a great late race charge and would finish a close 2nd. Tekno’s Ryan Lutz would go onto round out the podium in 3rd.

Kaja Novotny wins Czech season opener

Kaja Novotny wins Czech season opener

The first round of the 1/10 Czech nationals 2016 took place in Olomouc and Kaja Novotny wrote this report. ‘This year the organisers have decided to make the series more interesting than in previous year with the first round on carpet, then 2 rounds on clay, followed by 3 rounds on astroturf. We arrived late on Friday for a short practice. In practice I struggled little bit to find the pace for clean 5 minutes run and somehow couldn’t get a clean lap. When arrived to the hotel, we made few changes on the cars which appeared as a right move. On Saturday both my XB2 and XB4’16 worked great since the first lap. In 2wd qualifications I wasn’t the fastest driver on one lap, but the most consistent and took TQ in all three qualifications. In 4wd qualifications my XB4’16 was amazing, however being hit twice in Q1 by one-lap slower drivers meant 2nd place. Nevertheless TQs in Q2 & Q3 meant overall TQ for my XB4’16.

Jared Tebo takes 6th Neo win

Jared Tebo takes 6th Neo win

Jared Tebo has taken an impressive 6th win at the Neo race today in the UK. While it was last year’s winner Ryan Cavalieri driving for Associated that took the top spot after qualifying it was the Kyosho racer that would start the 45 minute main from pole after winning his semi final. Starting up front Jared tried to build up an early lead by pushing very hard from the start. Surviving an early attack by a very fast starting Ryan Lutz, the Tekno driver’s race would however end very early with an engine bearing failure. This left Cavalieri back into 2nd to lead the charge on Tebo and it looked to be close as they swapped fastest laps, however by 2/3rds of the way through the race Cav had dropped back into he grasp of a fast charging Cody King as the pace from the leader up front was relentless. With 12 minutes to go King would make his way passed Cavalieri but Ryan got his head down and 2 minutes later made his way passed in a long pass that lasted several corners. Just as both were coming up to their final stop King would flame out leaving Elliott Boots up to 3rd which for a time would become temporarily 2nd as Cav took his final stop. With the final stops out of the way it was Tebo who would take the win, never slowing in his quest for a 6th win, a huge mental boost ahead of the Worlds in Vegas later this year. Cavalieri took the runner up spot some 16 seconds back and off the lead lap with Elliott Boots putting his Kyosho on the podium some 8 seconds further back. Cody King would end the race 4th with Davide Ongaro rounding out the top 5.

Jerome Aigoin wins French season opener

Jerome Aigoin wins French season opener

The opening round of the French 1/8th Offroad Nationals took place this weekend, once again unfortunately clashing with the Neo race. Held in the centre of the country in Limoges it was JP Sartel who would take the top qualifying spot ahead of fellow TLR driver Jerome Sartel, with Jerome Aigoin (Kyosho), Yannick Aigoin (Xray) and Rayan Medjoubi (Kyosho) completing the top 5. Rain on finals day and differing track conditions between both semis meant the semi finals would see some big names not make the main event such as Jerome Sartel and Yannick Aigoin. It was Ryan Medjoubi, with his win in the A Semi who would start the 30 minute A-main from pole position, but it was his Kyosho team mate who would take the win in what was a close race among the top 4. JP Sartel would take the runner up spot at the flag, while Medjoubi would come through to complete the top 3, just 3 seconds up on 4th place Tom Robin.

Boggs & Mitch win at Extreme Carpet Initiative

Boggs & Mitch win at Extreme Carpet Initiative

The Extreme Carpet Initiative was held at Extreme RC raceway in Spring Hill, Tennessee. The awesome carpet track is setup a couple of times each month for racers all over the area to have a place to race. Not changing up the layout and going with a previous layout configuration the racers saw a mix of singles, doubles, corner jumps and a wall ride as jumps/obstacles for this year’s event. The track also featured different carpet areas as the main basketball court would be covered in a gray indoor/outdoor carpet with the jumps and the landing after the jumps in different type of carpet mainly to help from damaging the basketball court underneath the race track from hard landings.

Oliver Fischer wins Danish 1/8th off-road opener

Oliver Fischer wins Danish 1/8th off-road opener

The opening round of the Danish 1/8th off-road nationals was held in a large horse riding indoor arena and with the participation of some swift guests from abroad. The laid out track offered medium grip and a tight, flat layout. In the qualifiers Oliver Fischer (HB) and Magnus Frandsen (TLR) battled it out for the TQ spot and ultimately with two round TQs and a second place finish Oliver would take the overall TQ. After the semi finals Peter Harder (Xray) grabbed the pole position for the finals and he would also lead the field in the opening stages of the A-main but two mistakes and also problems with traffic let him drop down the order. Peter was able to recover but it wasn’t enough to challenge leader Oliver Fischer and he also had to defend himself against a storming Pelle Culmsee in the closing stages. Up front Oliver Fischer would bring home the win from Henrik Steiner while Peter Harder had to settle for third.
