Ryan Maifield topped the opening round of eBuggy qualifying at the Dirt Nitro Challenge, the TLR driver heading the times from reigning champion Ty Tessmann. Behind them 2WD Buggy World Champion Spencer Rivkin, who found himself in the C heat after a troubled practice yesterday, would complete the Top 3 followed by Ryan Lutz, Ryan Cavalieri and 2014 Champion David Ronnefalk.

Ty Tessmann claimed the first TQ run of the 17th running of the Dirt Nitro Challenge, the multiple champion putting his HB top of the times in the first of the three rounds of Truggy Qualifying at the Fear Farm. The four time champion, who held a three year reign over truggy at the Phoenix based event from 2012-2014, would finish 4-seconds clear of rivals. In a close battle wth Ryan Maifield, a last lap error would drop the defending Buggy Champion back to third leaving Ryan Cavalieri to claim a P2.

Tekin have announced the signing of European frontrunner, Hupo Hönigl to their team. The 2015 Austrian 1/8th E-Buggy national champion will use Tekin motors and speed controllers to power his Xray 1/8th, 1/10th and 1/12th scale rides in the coming season and he has the following to say about the deal:
I’m really happy to join Team Tekin after already using the Rx8 and T8 for a full season in my 1/8th electric car with amazing feeling and absolutely flawless. Also it is a bit like a revival for me, because in the beginning of my career (22 years ago) I used Tekin speedos and they were great and I have good memories only. The annual Köngen Indoor Masters were held in Germany last weekend, attracting some of the fastest drivers from Germany and Switzerland to compete in a total of six 1/10th off-road classes. The 2WD Modified Buggy category was TQ’d by Schumacher’s Micha Widmeier while the 4WD Modified and Truck Modified class TQs being snatched by multiple Swiss national champion, Patrick Hofer (Team Associated). In the triple A-mains Patrick would make a clean sweep by taking all three class wins in style to make it a title trifecta. In the 2WD class Patrick was sidelined on the podium by TQ Luca Widmeier while Yokomo’s Björn Prümper rounded out the top 3 result. In 4WD Modified Buggy it was again Micha Widmeier who grabbed the runner-up spot behind Patrick with Fabian Luca Widmer (Yokomo) completing the top 3 result. Finally in Modified Truck Robert Hard and Karsten Boehlke would complete a Team Associated podium sweep.

The opening round of the Swiss Electric Off-road Nationals was held in Stäfa near Zurich. One of the biggest races of the year the event attracted over 150 entries from Switzerland, Austria and Germany. Multi-times Swiss national champion, Patrick Hofer would dominate both the 2WD and 4WD Buggy classes as he not only took the TQ spots after the qualifiers but he also came out fastest in the triple A-mains from Fabian Luca Widmer. In 2WD it was veteran racer Sven Zünd who came in third while the 4WD class podium was rounded out by Philip Jeisy.

The 21st annual Rumble in the Rockies race was held this past weekend at MHOR RC Raceway in Aurora, Colorado. The prestigious event attracted both local talent and internationally experienced racers such as Dustin Evans, Kody Numedahl and Travis Amezcua to race in the usual mix of Modified and Stock categories. In the premier 2WD Modified Buggy class Dustin Evans would grab the top qualifier spot from Kody Numedahl and Frank Root. 4WD Modified Buggy again had Dustin Evans coming out fastest in the qualifiers, this time in front of Travis Amezcua and Frank Root. With a TQ in Modified Truck Dustin Evans would round out his domination while Zeke Ballinger and Matt Chambers had to settle for second and third on the grid. Finally in Modified Short Course it was Kody Numedahl who set the pace from Brandon Steele and Lars Johnson.
Round four of the 2015/16 Mibosport Cup was held this past weekend in Hrotivice, Czech Republic. The race attracted a total of 238 entries that pretty much equally split into the four electric on-road and two off-road classes. The Touring Car Modified category saw Patrick Gollner taking the TQ and the pole position for the finals and in the first A-main, Jiří Vyšín moved up from the fifth to the second place just behind Patrick. Dominic Vogl finished on the third position. Patrick then also managed to take the win in the second A-main while behind him Dominic Vogl finished in second place ahead of Mario Sowka. The third and final A-main again went to Patrick who completed a perfect sweep. Zdenko Kunák and Dominic Vogl finishing second and third respectively. Behind Patrick, Dominic Vogl and Zdenko Kunák completing the podium result in second and third respectively.

Korean company Highest have announced the signing of Swedish frontrunner David Ronnefalk to their factory team. The former European Champion joins prominent team mates such as Robert Batlle and Reno Savoya and he will use the company’s servo line from now on. It is understood that his first official outing for his new sponsors will be the forthcoming The Dirt Nitro Challenge.
