Dave Johnson signs with Destiny

Xenon USA have announced the signing of multinational champion, U.S. racer Dave Johnson to drive for new Japanese company Destiny. Along with Josh Cyrul, Dave will use the company’s RX-10S touring cars for the upcoming 2016/17 season and he had this to say:

Spanish company MD Racing have announced the signing of Luxembourg’s Jaques Libar to their team. Having used a range of different brands this season Jaques now found a new home at MD Racing and he has the following to say about the opportunity:

2016 U.S. World Nitro Cup – Announcement

2016 U.S. World Nitro Cup – Announcement

The 2016 U.S. World Nitro Cup will be held from December 7th to 11th at Fullthrottle R/C Raceway in Kissimmee, Florida. The events starts off on Wednesday with open practice and the opening qualifier will be held on Friday morning while the day will end with a poolside social at the host hotel in the evening. 2016 classes are 1/8th Open, Masters, Sportsman and 2WD pan car as well as 1/8th GT 5-port, 1/10th Sedan and a 4WD 1/8E promoter class. Brandon Cho signs with ARC USA

ARC USA have announced the signing of KO Propo Grand Prix winner Brandon Cho to their team. Brandon will campaign the 2016 ARC R8.0 1/8 scale nitro kit at major national races in the US. His first race is next month as he defends his title at the 2016 KO Propo Grand Prix. This is what Brandon has to say about the deal:

Øyvind Stusdal wins at Norwegian National Series finale

The final round of the Norwegian National Series was held at the Lørenskogs track in Oslo. The weather forecast for the weekend was unstable but the qualifying could be started on a dry track. In time for the finals the rain came and it was Øyvind Stusdal who made the best out of the conditions to take the win in A1 with a 9 seconds margin. In A2 Øyvind, who started from the 3 spot on the grid, further dropped down the field but he was able to recover and to take the win to grab the overall victory with one leg to spare. For A3 Øyvind tried a couple of new settings and he would be able to take home another leg win, this time with a 14 seconds margin. Behind him, Morten Bremsrud in second and Georg Ellingsen in third completed the podium result.

2016 Tamiya Championship Series finale – Report

The 2016 Tamiya Championship Series finals concluded at Tamiya America’s racing facility in Aliso Viejo, California after nine regional races across the country. The event spanned two days and this year’s final celebrates 22 years of on-road Tamiya R/C car racing. The event brought eight new class champions, four of which will be representing the USA at the Tamiya World Championships in November; an event during the Tamiya Fair in Shizuoka-City, Japan. The four class-champions that will be moving on to the Tamiya World Championships are Timmy Valles in GT-1, Bill Jeric in Formula, Tobey Zhang in GT-2 and Jason Smith in the popular M-Chassis class. The champions in the additional classes are Alex Tolmasoff in GT-3, Tsuyoshi Niizuma in GT Novice Spec, Orlando Sherman in FWD and Tyree Phillips in the GT Pro Spec/Porsche Cup category.

Slovenian Electric On-road National Champs – Report

The Slovenian Electric On-road National Championship was recently held at the Miniavtodrom na Logu track in Tolmin. The technical and fast track with its nice layout and flat surface was prepared with sugar water to make for decent traction conditions and the event was held in the three classes of Touring Modified, Touring Stock and 1/8th scale GT/Rally. As for the schedule, Saturday was devoted for free practice followed by three round of qualifying on Sunday morning with the finals being held after the lunch break. In 1/10 Touring Modified it was Darko Nemec (Xray) who won the race in front of TQ holder Stanislav Kokol (Xray) and Kristjan Mikložič (Xray) in third place.

2016 French National Cup – Report

2016 French National Cup – Report

The French National Cup was held this past weekend in Evry near Paris. The French National Cup is one of two annual national outdoor series with the NC being a single race while the French Championship is a 5-race affair. In the Modified category, Cyril N’Diaye obtained the pole position while his teammate Thomas Vigneron, current leader of the French Championship, qualified on the 2 spot. During the opening two finale legs Cyril and Thomas had some tight battles and they finished 1/2 and 2/1 meaning the decision for the overall title would be made in A3. In the third and decisive main Cyril maintained his position to win the race from Thomas Vigneron in second and Hugo Ragaut in third.
