In the main final Oliver and his pitmen Armin and Dennis Weihert showed a flawless performance. Wtih a super fast pitstop Oliver managed to pass Dario Balestri and took over the lead in the early stages of the race. When Dario had to retire after 16 minutes Oliver’s gap over the rest of the field was already one lap. With all his routine he kept this distance to the end to claim his first European Championship title. Belgian Electric On-road Nationals Rd6 – Report

Belgian Electric On-road Nationals Rd6 – Report

The 6th round of the Belgian Electric On-road Nationals was held at the MRG Genk track in challenging weather conditions. On Saturday it was raining cats and dogs while on Sunday the rain had stopped and with the track was still being wet qualification was a bit difficult at first. But the track was drying fast and in the Efra class it was VBC team driver Olivier Bultynck who took the TQ spot with the only 18-laps runs in front of team mate Nicolas Delisé in second and Nick Joosens in 3rd. To no ones surprise it was Ollie who took the lead in the opening A-main and he kept it till the end, even struggling with a bad rear tyre could not hold him from winning. A bad start of Nicolas ruined his first final while Nick was in second place behind Olivier. Mitchell Van Es did everything he could to catch Nick but he had to settle for third.

Ginting & Izzah win at Indonesian EP Nationals Rd3

Round three of the Indonesian EP Nationals was held at JITC Senayan track in dusty and very low-grip conditions and in the three classes of 13.5T Boosted, FWD and Mini. In the Boosted class it was Muhammad Izzah who secured the pole position for the triple A-mains. Leg one then saw Izzah taking a comfortable win from John Ambar and Ronny Suwarto. Leg two and Bowie Ginting, who suffered from tyre failures in the qualifiers and the opening A-main, was able to pass Muhammad on the second lap and to win the main some four seconds in front of Izzah and Mamesah. The third and decisive A-main then again had Bowie Ginting taking the win after an unlucky Muhammad Izzah had to park his car due to a broken drive belt. This handed Bowie the overall win from Muhammad and Christian. In the FWD class Izzah was unstoppable and he made a clean sweep to take the win from Arya and Donny Dobu.

Ratheisky & Wohlgemuth win at German EP nats

Ratheisky & Wohlgemuth win German EP onroad nats

The German 1/10th Electric On-road Nationals and German Formula Masters were held at the Hamm track this past weekend. The event started out in good weather conditions but overnight rain on Sunday brought things to a halt. After four rounds of qualifying had been run on Saturday it was decided to skip the fifth and final qualifier on main’s day and to go straight into the finals. The drivers of the supporting Formula class decided to skip the mains anyway so Top Qualifier Jan Ratheisky was able to grab the German Formula Masters title without turning a wheel in the finals. David Ehrbar came in 2nd while Jan Bohlen rounded out the top 3. The finals of the Touring Car Stock class were run in pretty severe track conditions and they had Daniel Wohlgemuth coming out successful from Jan Ratheisky and Caspar Nückel.

Chinese Serpent GT Cup Rd1 – Report

Chinese Serpent GT Cup Rd1 – Report

Energy RC hosted their first ever Serpent GT Cup in Guangzhou, China recently. Aiming to keep the race fair and at the same time keep costs low, Energy RC had introduced this Serpent one-brand race with all racers need to run the “GT-Cup” chassis, which is basically a standard Serpent RTR kit minus the electronics. The standard Serpent/Novarossi pull-start engine as well as the standard kit tyres need to be run as well with the only modifications allowed are the springs and anti-roll bar, and some setup related upgrades like caster blocks, chassis stiffeners etc. On  Saturday a lot of racers made use of the free practice to get used to the new class that was virtually unexciting in China before this race. Qualifying started on Sunday and it soon became clear that the rules would make for some close racing, with the top 10 drivers were all within 1 second in their best lap times. The TQ then went to Lin, who pulled the only 29 lap run in qualifying, from Chuan and Hao. In the 45 minute main final positions swapped heavily and at the end it was Cai Cai who came out successful from Ri Chuan and Hian Xi, who finished in 2nd and 3rd respectively. The second round of the Serpent GT Cup will be held on the 20th of September at the Shenzhen KRC race track.
