Former IFMAR ISTC World and Asian Champion Surikarn C. has joined the Serpent nitro team to race 1/8th nitro off-road buggy and 1/10th nitro on-road classes on a national and international level. Surikarn’s race calendar will see appearances at major Thai races along selected international races such as the FEMCA 1/10th GP in Hong Kong and the Asia Contest in Pattaya.

The International Carpet Challenge was held in Southend, south-east England over the weekend. Xray’s Olly Jefferies completed his domination of the 2015 ICC event by taking a clean sweep of qualifying and the triple leg finals. The British National Champion was clearly the class of the field at signature race of the well-known EWS team in the UK. Olly topped the controlled practice rounds, and then proceeded to win every one of the five qualifying rounds at the 2-day event. German star Christopher Krapp looked liked being Olly’s closest challenger, taking his Kyosho to second place in the opening three rounds of qualifying.

The fifth round of the South Swedish Indoor Cup was held in Hasselholm in the three classes of Touring Car Modified, Stock 17.5T Blinky and Formula. The race was held on a small and technical track and in the Modified class it was Daniel Carlsson who finished the day on top after grabbing the pole position for the finals. Christian Holmström came in 2nd while Kenneth Carlsson rounded out the podium on the 3rd spot.

The Spanish National Series is a new electric on-road race series for all drivers who seek fun racing with easy rules. Run in a Modified Touring, 10.5T Stock Touring and a 21.5T Formula class with control tyres, handout tyre additive, cleaner as well as rental motors for the Stock classes the 4-race series starts on March 1st at the RB36 Arena in Barcelona and concludes on September 12th in Puerto de Santa Maria, Cardiz. IFMAR World Champion Alexander will continue to run Hot Race tyres for the upcoming season, the Swede announced. Using the tyres to grab the 2014 1/12th Euros title and the 2015 Snowbird Nationals Alex will use the Italian rubber in the 2015 season that will include appearances in 1/8th, 1/10th and 1/12th scale classes. Alex has the following to say about the deal:
After some success with Hot Race tires over the last year, where I managed to win the 2014 European Championships, as well as the 2015 Snowbird Nationals, among many other titles, I have decided to continue to run exclusively Hot Race tires in 1/10, 1/12 and 1/8 categories. I will do my best to push for good results also in the future events, as well as give my input into development of their foam- and rubber tire lines. Contact Tyres have announced their international race team for the 2015 season. Beside long term multiple champion drivers Robert Pietsch and Simon Kurzbuch, former 1/10th 200mm European A and B Champion Alessio Mazzeo was added to the factory team. Robert, Simon and Alessio will attend most of the international races like including the IFMAR World and EFRA European Championships, the ENS and the respective National Championships.

The Hot Race Trophy Brazil took place in Americana City at the venue of this year’s 1/8th Nitro On-Road World Championships. In the 200mm class the TQ went to Flavio Elias with Eduardo Dulac coming in 2nd. In the final Eduardo then was on a mission and he not only scored the fastest lap of the race but he also finished the main some five laps in front of the 2nd place driver.

Former 1/8th nitro on-road French National and European B Champion Anthony Abisset will make a switch to Picco engines for his upcoming campaign. The deal is part of a shuffle that takes place at the newly appointed French Picco distributor Racing Experience at the moment and it is understood that more drivers will make a swap to the Italian engines soon.
