Helix Designs P03 popper

Coming from Helix Designs and made for the Awesomatix P03 suspension cups is the P03 popper tool. Mounting the cups can be a hassle at times and this is where the tool kicks in as it saves time and lots of P03s from breaking on instillation and removal. It is of a two-sided design – a pushing side to help install easier and protect the P03, and a removal side that has a slightly tighter fit to help pry off old P03s. The 3-D-printed tool is available from now on.

RC Maker A800X MMCX floating electronic plate set

Coming from RC Maker and made for the Awesomatix A800X MMCX mid motor touring car is the new adjustable floating electronic plate set. Long awaited by several Awesomatix enthusiasts and extensively tested and refined for the MMCX, the plate adds valuable weight and balance to the car. The degree of weight required varies depending on the size and weight of the battery. This is why the designers have created the next generation of the AFEP, which not only moves side to side for balance, but that can have additional plates stacked on top to increase weight. As well as this, RC Maker have included two centre weight options in the kit, 5g and 15g which can be installed depending on the required overall weight. The key feature of this plate is its floating capability. The plate sits 0.5mm above the chassis and allows the main plate to flex underneath. Only mounting from a single central screw, it also makes changing chassis extremely easy, without having to remove any double sided tape. The set is a direct fit to the MMCX chassis and an additional 8g stick-on plate is available separately.

RC Maker AM19-2 upper bulkhead support stiffeners

Coming from RC Maker and made for the Awesomatix AM19-2 upper bulkheads are carbon fibre stiffener plates. Constructed from very stiff 0.5mm carbon, then are extremely lightweight and provide increased rigidity to the “ears” on the upper bulkheads where the camber link mounts. In awkward collisions with boards on tight, twisty tracks, these ears can bend when hitting boards or barriers and throw our the camber and caster, and are sometimes quite difficult to detect at first. These will help prevent these upper bulkheads twisting by providing an extra layer of supper bridged between the camber link ball-stud and bulkhead screw. Being only 0.5mm thick, they do not need a longer screw in the bulkhead, however if owners want to, this will further increase rigidity. The stiffeners are able to stay on the car when removing diffs etc, and are held in position by the camber link ballstuds. The stiffeners are available in 8-piece packs from now on.

RC Maker A800 MMCX Slimflex topdeck

RC Maker have introduced their new Slimflex topdeck for the Awesomatix A800X mid motor MMCX chassis. Designed to reduce the profile of the topdeck, it has been optimised to improve the flex characteristics in low traction asphalt and carpet conditions. It increases the overall torsional flex of the chassis both front and rear resulting in more overall grip. The flex can be altered by either using ST019 screw or removing it from the topdeck. Together with the use of the screws under the motor mount, owners can access a large range of flex characteristics, just like the standard topdeck, but with increased “overall” flex throughout the whole footprint. The rear brace is designed to act as a spring, restricting bulkhead flex at this point but not totally removing it like the standard topdeck. RC Maker recommend using their Med Flex Link, or Flex Dampener on the front of the front bulkheads to remove and excess “over-flexing” of the bulkheads. Additional flex can also be obtained by cutting the rear carbon tab on the topdeck with a Dremel, to increase the length of the flex point to further, increasing flex in the rear of the car. Recommended uses of the Slimflex topdeck include low to medium traction carpet with aluminium chassis, low to medium traction asphalt with carbon chassis and high traction asphalt with aluminium chassis.

Avid A800 limited edition titanium chassis

Coming from Avid are two new titanium chassis for the Awesomatix A800X series touring car. The chassis has been designed for high bite conditions and Avid widened the standard arm pivots in the rear 0.5mm on each side – arms further from the bulkheads – which stabilizes the car allowing to drive it harder with more confidence. The designers have also narrowed the long arm suspensions pivots in the rear 0.5mm on each side – arms closer to the bulkheads – to match the rear. Avid recommend using this chassis to increase performance on high to medium bite conditions with Kyle Klingforth, who helped develop the chassis, finishing 2nd in the Touring Modified class at this year’s ROAR Carpet Nationals, forcing other teams to fly in custom titanium chassis due to them offering quite an advantage. The limited edition chassis fits the standard motor position A800X and it is available in exclusive oil slick or standard black anodising.

Awesomatix linear spring screws

Coming from Awesomatix is the ST69-00 linear spring screw designed to fit the AT119 progressive spring screw holder which was released with the PSS System some weeks ago. The linear screw can be used to replace the ST69-15/25 screws which offer 15 percent and 25 percent progression with the ST69-00 being developed to make for linear spring action comparable with the P09/X and RHS screw. The set includes two screws and it can be used in the front and the rear of A800 and A700 kits equipped with the AT119 spring screw holder.

Awesomatix A800FX 1/10 front-wheel drive touring car

Following a couple of teaser images Awesomatix have finally unveiled their A800FX 1/10th scale front-wheel drive touring car kit. The somewhat revolutionary car is designed to offer optimised weight distribution combined with the lowest centre of gravity. The goal was to create a FWD car with easy changeable front/rear balance, which is one of the main setup adjustments for this class of cars. Inside the front bumper the designers integrated a 65g heavy steel insert which offers the possibility to add another 50g by placing five 10g round weights into the milled areas of bumper. Furthermore, the lower deck has plenty of additional holes for the mounting of Awesomatix’s standard 10g and 5g round weights.

Avid Awesomatix unsprung brass weights

Avid have introduced new unsprung brass weights for the Awesomatix A800 and A700 touring cars. The weights attach to the end of the front arms to give more on-power responsiveness, causing the car to feel more direct when coming out of the corners, almost feeling like it slingshots out. The radiused bottom keeps the weights from digging into the wheel on big hits.
