Xray Narrow Hard Coated Pinion gears

Xray Narrow Hard Coated Pinion gears

Xray release new narrow high-performance pinion gear manufactured from special lightweight aircraft duraluminum. They are 1.5mm thinner and 25% lighter than the regular-size pinion gear and come in 48 pitch (12-34T) and 64 pitch (18-38T). These new narrow pinions are manufactured by Xray on a specially-modified precision gear machine which has ultra-precise tolerances and assures unparalleled concentricity. After machining, the narrow pinions have all their edges chamfered and then are run-in. The pinions are then specially treated to give them an even hard coating so they stay absolute true for a long time.

Xray NT1 Lipo Battery Plate

Xray NT1 Lipo Battery Plate

Xray have released this LiPo tray for the NT1, which was designed to accommodate the lower weight of the LiPo receiver battery pack compared to standard NiMH receiver battery packs. CNC-machined from a single piece of solid brass, the tray is additionally black coated for protection and laser engraved with the Xray logo for authenticity. The slick, narrow design allows you to mount a lightweight LiPo receiver battery pack, and being made of solid brass, weight is brought to the lowest part of the car as well as to the car’s centre line. This makes for a more balanced car, as well as more stable and easier to drive through corners and over curbs. Traction rolling is reduced in high-traction conditions, and handling is improved in low-traction conditions.

The Xray stand was the first port or call today and as usual the Slovakian manufacturers display was extremely well presented. On show was a number of updated cars, including the 2009 XB808 1/8th scale buggy. This car retains the basics of the previous model, launched here 1 year ago, but features some new improvements including new bulkheads that have a redesigned bearing retaining collar for better durability. Also for improved performance over a period of time, the new shock absorbers have new boots to keep the dirt away, while other small changes include stronger ball joints, new rear body holder and whats new on all the gas cars, a new fuel tank lid that has a unique one piece rubber seal system to stop ant leaking. Finally the car sports a new low profile air filter that enables the use of a new sleaker body shell.

Xray X10 1/10th scale pan car?

Xray X10 1/10th scale pan car

We already know from previous notices by Xray, that the Slovakian company will be releasing updates for their XT8, XB808 and NT1, but as the new picture (click for large version) taken from the company’s website shows, they are also releasing a completely new car into their product line, the X10. Although not confirmed, we are pretty sure looking at the picture that it is a 1/10th scale pan car, fitted with a Worlds GT bodyshell and most probably is based off the company’s recently released XII. We will be at the toy fair from tomorrow onwards and hope to bring you confirmation of this as well as full details from all the new Xray line.

Xray Column – Back to the Future

Xray Column - Back to the Future

The 27th installment in the Xray column from Xray owner and chief designer Juraj Hudy is now online. In this months column, Juraj talks about the Xray product line, lists each ones strong and weak points, scores them and offers an idea as to what will be changed in future versions.

So at the end we worked around the XT8 to reach a middle ground, allowing the 2009 version of the XT8 to retain as many parts as possible but also to improve those areas and parts which will bring the XT8 to the next higher level once again. The truggy market has been enjoying increasing popularity worldwide and as such I am convinced that the 2009 XT8 will again be a level better in 2009.

In the year XII – Xray XII 1/12th scale

Xray XII 1/12th scale

Rumours about a possible 1/12 scale on-road car from Slovakian manufacturer Xray had been around for a while now but it was at last years on-road World Championship in Thailand when the first prototype cars hit the public road.

Pictures of the XII named car have been rare before the actual event although some spy shots floated around the internet showing that the first ever 1/12 scale car from Xray was very likely of a conventional ‘T-bar’ design with a rather large and ‘brushless-friendly’ power pod. Come the WC the secret was revealed and Xray factory driver Teemo Leino set some very impressive practice times with the orange toned XII. Information on a release date had not been given at that time but rumour had it that the pan car was due to be production ready by the beginning of 2009.
