Xray Column – 2009 Kick-off

Xray Column - 2009 Kick-off

The 28th installment in the Xray column from Xray owner and chief designer Juraj Hudy is now online. In this months column, Juraj talks about the start of the 2009 race season which takes in the DHI Cup and European Indoor Championships in Italy.

This January was busy as usual, even a bit more so than usual. First of all, internally we have worked on four new big XRAY projects at the same time as well as finishing plenty of new HUDY products which is by far the largest amount of new stuff we have ever worked on simultaneously. Secondly, in addition to the annual DHI Cup which kicks off the electric touring car season, we had another major and highly competitive race on schedule; the newly-added European Indoor Championship for 1/10 electric touring cars and 1/12 pan cars and the US team headed to the annual US Touring Car Championship.

CSO Xray NT1 Carbon chassis plate

CSO Xray NT1 Carbon chassis plate

Currently in development by CSO in Hong Kong, is this carbon fibre chassis plate for the Xray NT1 1/10th scale chassis. They are currently fine tuning the chassis thickness but so far it has performed very well in testing and thanks to its 60 grams of weight savings, seems to give the car better fuel economy too. As with all non metal chassis plates in gas cars, heat transfer is a concern, but testing in 20 degree (C) heat proved to be no problem for the engine and chassis. They will give the chassis its biggest test to date at the KM Cup that takes place at the end of this month in Bangkok, where the competition will be strong and the heat and humidity really high. We will keep you posted on further developments.

Extra Vitamin C – Xray T2’009

Xray T2'009

For some time now Xray is known as one of the most proactive manufacturers when it comes to enhancing the performance of their own products. While other companies stick with a design for many years it’s a good tradition of the Slovakian manufacturer to update their products on a yearly basis. The best example is the T-line of electric touring cars, that for some time now is named after the year they are designed for. This tradition started in 2006 when the T2 β€˜007 came out. At the end of 2008 the T2 β€˜009 was introduced, and beside the change in name something new, at least for Xray, pleased the eyes of the strong Xray following: orange anodising.
