Coelho aiming to wrap it up at Hudy Arena

The Yokomo Euro Touring Series travels to rc racing’s bucket list topping Hudy Arena this weekend (16-18 June) but unlike previous visits to the home of Xray the event will not mark the traditional conclusion to the season for the world famous touring car championship. Now scheduled in as Round 5 of 6, the ETS’ fifth trip to Slovakia however looks likely to decide the Season #10 champion with Bruno Coelho already within hands reach of successfully defending his title. The only one who can attempt to deny Coelho form celebrating one of the sport’s most coveted titles on Sunday night is World Champion Ronald Volker. With Coelho having three wins from four races, Volker is the only other winner this season but the Yokomo driver needs to dominate on a track where he has only won once before when the ETS made its first visit in 2013. Coelho on the other hand has never failed to win at his ‘home track’ since making his championship debut and would love to wrap up the title with that record remaining intact.

OMK Raceway in Oslo recently held the popular Summer Cup on their tight and challenging astro turf track. Nice and warm weather made for good racing conditions and in the 2WD class it was newly signed Xray driver, Daniel Kobbevik who took the TQ with the Yokomo duo of Petter Berntsen and Steffen Larsen lining up in 2nd and 3rd on the grid. In the opening A-main things looked a bit different though with Daniel having a bobble in the opening stages that resulted in a popped front link, allowing Petter to win the leg in front of Steffen Larsen and Roger Berntsen.

2017 Alabama Manufacturer Shootout – Report

Last year, the Alabama Manufacturer Shootout made headlines with the news of the AMS having new ownership. As much as there was excitement, there was a bit of skepticism, but after the recent AMS 8.0, all doubts were laid to rest as the event was well planned, amazingly fun, and still has the AMS magic. Fortunately the drivers were blessed with perfect weather that added to the atmosphere and making the event more enjoyable overall. The track layout this year was fun and had a terrific flow that reminded of a toned down Psycho Nitro Blast in a smaller arena with dirt jumps instead of wood ramps. Many commented that the track looked “awesome”, “rad”, and “wished I was there”, claiming high praise from racers and internet viewers.

Schumacher BTCC Rd3 – Report

The Schumacher BTCC series Rd3 moved on to the midlands based Stafford track this weekend. Over the four classes there were some epic battles across the board. In modified the usual suspects Olly Jefferies, Elliott Harper and Chris Grainger were battling it out for top spot in what were tricky conditions for the high powered cars. Super high winds and lower traction after overnight rain made it tough for the competitors. Olly pipped Elliott for overall TQ by less than a second after the tie break of two wins each, Chris Grainger qualified third. In the two legged finals Olly took the wins ahead of Elliott with Zak Smith coming from 4th on the grid up to 3rd overall.

With track temperatures reaching 57°C degrees during the afternoon’s finals, the drivers who gathered in Bolzano (Italy) for the fourth round of the Jokerteam 2017 GT12 Championship struggled to find the right setup for their cars in order to allow the tires to last the whole 6 minutes of each A-main. With the Championship being at the half-way mark and Mattia Dall’Oca being able to deliver a hat-trick in the previous rounds, bets were on in the pits to see if the Team Schumacher driver was able to make it four in a row.
