2011 Tamiya EuroCup Finals result

The 2011 Tamiya EuroCup Finals were held in Basel Switzerland last weekend. The event saw 110 drivers from 8 countries compete for European Champion honors in 6 categories; Top Stock, M-chassis, Buggy, Gentlemen, F1, and Euro GT (mod). Swiss, German, and Hungarian drivers topped the tables. Geng Bence of Hungary Crowned Top stock Champion, Swiss Roman Pichler and Marco Siegenthaler F1 and GT Champions respectively. Mathias Reber of Germany made the podium twice with 2nd in both M.chassis and F1.

Kraig Krueger wins 2wd at Udder Madness Classic

The Udder Madness Classic is the longest-running off-road race in Minnesota. This year the top racers in the region gathered at the race’s annual Starbuck location for the event. Similar to previous years, the 2WD Modified class proved to be the most competitive and largest of the classes. In round 1 of qualifying, Team Associated’s Eric Swanson put in a solid run and set the early pace for the rocket round qualifying format with his RC10B4.1. His time held until round 3 when his teammate Kraig Krueger edged him out for the top qualifying position that held through the fourth round of qualifying. At the completion of qualifying, the grid was set for the triple A Mains with the RC10B4.1’s of Kraig Krueger, Eric Swanson, and Steve Nelson sitting on the top three spots.

Kody Numedahl wins Colorado State Gas Series

The Colorado State Gas Series is made up of five stops among the top Colorado tracks, which includes Colorado Fast Track, Dirt Works, Rat Raceway, Longmont and Thunder Valley. With National level drivers competing in the series, victory is earned, not given. Team Associated/Reedy driver Kody Numedahl drove his Reedy 121 VR-powered RC8B to the the overall series victory with consistent top finishes and smart racing. Also taking home titles with their Team Associated vehicles were Steve Folle with his RC8Be and Phil Turner with his RC8T.

Hungarian Nationals Rd5 report

The last round of the Hungarian Offroad Championships took place on a newly built track inside a speedway facility in Debrecen recently. It is a US style loamy track with many jumps and tight corners. In Buggy class it was Toth Bence who TQ’d, winning 3 rounds of out 6 in front of Cseko Gergely and Gabnai Gergo. For the finals the track broke up quite a bit so it was real challenge to stay on your wheels without losing a lot of pace. Right after the start Bence and Gergely provided the show for those many speedway fans who visited with very fair and super close racing, continuously changing their position for the lead followed by Bruzsa Richard in a close third. After about 10 minutes Gergely dropped back because of driving errors while Bence and Richard continued swapping their position in front. Gergely was able to pit one less than his rivals and slipped back into the lead while they were out for their last pitstop at the 23 minute mark. This passing maneuver confused both Bence and Richard a bit, they were trying to catch up while racing with each other which resulted in many mistakes that let Gergely to open the gap on them. The race for 2nd remained open till the very last lap.

Anthony Mazzara dominates NY City Offroad Champs

Outdoor Off-road R/C racing came to the Big Apple this past Sunday at the newly built Fort Knox RC Park in Bronx, NY. The race was organized by a dedicated group of enthusiastic racers to host the 1st Annual New York City Off-road Championships. TLR team driver Anthony Mazzara was the fastest driver in qualifying taking top qualifying positions in both pro buggy and pro truggy with his TLR 8ight 2.0 and TLR 8ight-T 2.0. Anthony convincingly took the top podium positions with his Nitrotec powered TLR vehicles. In pro buggy Anthony’s TLR teammate, James Schlick, took the runner up position.

Vintage Offroad Nationals results

The 4th annual Vintage Offroad Nationals was held last weekend at RCHR in Waterbury, CT. All racers prepared 1994 and earlier cars and the weekend saw some super close racing in each of the six classes. Everything from Losi JRX2s and Associated RC10s to Tamiya Falcons and Clod Busters were run and it was truly legendary to see these classic cars racing wheel to wheel once again.

Keisuke Fukuda wins Japanese 200mm Nationals

The JMRCA Japanese 1/10th 200mm Nationals were held last weekend at Keitune Speedway in Ichihara. Qualifying for the event saw Mugen racer Takehiro Terauchi take the pole position just ahead of Yuya Sahashi in 2nd and multiple National champion Takaaki Shimo for Kyosho in 3rd. The KM team attended the event all the way from Thailand and Meen Vejrak driving the H-K1 would start in 4th. In the final however it was former World Champion Keisuke Fukuda with the Mugen who would take victory by a lap in front of Meen V in 2nd, with Shinnosuke Yokoyama rounding out the podium in 3rd for Xray.
